The timbuk2 bags are pretty good

The invisible kind.

The best website to buy bags. Here you can also enter what type of computer you have and it tells what bags it will fit.

^ I’m always a bit worried about buying a used bag, though.

Please don’t.

I second “the invisible kind” and “please don’t.” Messenger bags are seriously the grossest things I’ve ever seen.

What is wrong with a messenger bag? I use my leather laptop bag as a messenger bag whenever my attire looks to awkward wearing a book bag.

Thank’s guys! I got a black leather Perry Ellis Portfolio messanger bag for only $54 (including tax).

@darkdream: they’re just really ugly. What “attire” would be too awkward with a bookbag? I’ve worn sweaters, t shirts, polos, dress shirts, even blazers with a backpack and none looked awkward

Messenger bags, especially leather ones, look much more professional than a backpack (even a leather one).

I prefer messengers, much easier and faster to get at my keys or something I need quickly than a backpack. Yes, it puts strain on your back, but I’ve carried upward of twenty-five pounds and have no issues.

Messenger bags are great if you want to be a capri wearing, metrosexual Spanish man.

With Ebay? If so just make sure it’s delivered to you before school starts.
Wow, messenger bags are just as nice as backpacks.

In the same way that a turd is just as nice as a diamond. Perhaps if you need fertilizer, but for all standard situations, not so much.

Don’t be so ridiculous.

I know there are two threads under college life about backpacks and messenger bags and would suggest either or. Though when buying either unsure I wouldn’t purchase one for a hefty price, one can always sale and purchase the other option if it turns out a bad fit.

Of course they look more professional, turns out you’re a college student.

Messenger bag says: “I try too hard, so I might as well be pretentious doing it.”

Backpack says: “I’m a practically-minded college student with appropriate tastes. Messenger bags may look ‘professional’, but I am a college student, not a stock broker, and therefore I should stick with the versatile backpack.”
