Hey all,
I’m very interested in supplementing my undergrad education with summer intensives in NYC or elsewhere. I’d prefer suggestions for programs that are NOT for beginners, but rather intended for well-versed actors looking to hone their craft. These are what I’m looking at so far:
Stella Adler (Shakespeare & Chekhov Intensive)
HB Studio (Hagen Summer Intensive)
William Esper (Summer intensive)
Atlantic Theater Company
Circle in the Square Theater Company
LAMDA, RADA, Guildhall, etc.
National Michael Chekhov Association
Eric Morris workshops
Steppenwolf intensives
Does anyone have first hand experience with any of these studios or programs? Are there any I haven’t mentioned that you would recommend? I’m also interested in a reputable program where I could study Commedia Dell’Arte (Possibly in Italy). Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
BU students can spend their study abroad semester at the following program. You may want to look into this place (although this particular program says it is for BU students only, I’m sure the facility offers programs for others).
Arezzo, Italy
In this charming Tuscan town, you can still see the remnants of centuries of history dating back to the Etruscans. And with its artistic heritage, Arezzo is a fitting locale for a concentrated arts program.
Arezzo Physical Theater Program

Music, theater, and dance students can study at the Accademia dell’Arte as an integral part of their academic program at Boston University.

My daughter is supplementing her theater degree by attending a 7 week acting intensive in CA. It’s audition only in a Tony Award winning theater. Message me if you want the info.
You might want to take a look at the BADA Midsummer in Oxford program. It’s an audition-only program which my son attended and thought very highly of. There’s a detailed description of it in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/theater-drama-majors/1635453-bada-midsummer-in-oxford-2014.html
That sounds amazing, thanks for posting, @CCMom2U
