Recommender Invitations Expire

When you invite a teacher or other person to give a recommendation, let them know they should respond to the email with in a few days after they receive it.

They don't need to upload the recommendation immediately, but if they don't click on the link in the email and start the process of creating an account, etc., the invitation will expire.

We sent some practice invitations over a month ago when the new common app form went live and those invitation emails now link to a notice that says the invitation has expired and the student needs to re-invite.

If you do end up having to re-invite, it isn't tricky.

Thanks Nice Day for this info. by the way have you submitted an common app yet? I keep on hearing that the payment thing is screwy so no one is getting confirmation of the payment which then allows submission of the supplement. I am leaning to not using the common app if a school has another option. I think everyone needs to plan on submitting at least two weeks before the deadline to leave time to work out this payment glitch.

Our D has not submitted, yet, and won’t for a while. She doesn’t have any rolling schools on her list and no deadlines before Nov. 1.

Applying well in advance of the deadline is good advice.
