He agreed to write a letter of recommendation, and I invited him on Commonapp. I recently sent him information he wanted for writing the letter, but he didn’t respond yet. This was roughly 1-2 weeks ago. On Commonapp it says he has not yet started. My Brown Early Decision deadline (Nov 1) is fast approaching, and I want to send in my stuff ASAP. Can I still add him to my list of school officials in the list for School Forms? I already have 2 teachers on there so this will be an additional, but if he doesn’t get it in by Nov 1, will that get me into trouble? Should I not add him to the Brown Application at all?

Probably not an issue. The ED deadlines are for you. Schools know that teachers are busy and they are more flexible with them (us-- I’m a teacher). You might give him a gently memory jog after about another week. I know I wouldn’t mind that at all. Perhaps say, “Thanks so much for writing my recommendation. I really appreciate it.” That way you are not being rude, but, instead, polite! If he hasn’t done it, it will remind him that he needs to get on it. That is part of his job as a teacher.
