My teacher STILL hasnt done my recommendation

So i gave my recommendation thing through common app a month and a half ago.. and he still has not started it. I remind him every week of so and he says thanks for reminding me but still has not done it. What should i do? Should i try to ask a teacher to PLEASE get it done? Does it have to be done before the ED deadline? or is it ok if its filled out after

tahnks

I’m in a similar position. My teacher hasn’t started the recs either. I think its OK if they are submitted after the deadline (within a reasonable amount of time) as long as you get your application in on time…thats what I’m doing anyway!

In the words of my good friend MacGyver, take a deep breath.

Let me answer your question in two ways. First, a counselor or teacher can submit forms after the published deadline. The Common App Online system will still accept them, and colleges will not penalize you for their tardiness. Before online submission, it would take weeks–literally–for colleges to open and sort mail, and no student was ever at a disadvantage because his or her recommendation was at the bottom of the pile.

This assumes, of course, that your teacher will be tardy–and that is my second point. Anecdotally, I have heard from veteran school counselors across the country that this lead-up to November 1 has been the wildest they have ever seen. The volume of recommendation requests that teachers are receiving must be staggering, so cut them some slack. If your teacher misses the deadline and you gave him ample time to complete your rec (at least three weeks, I would say), then you have a right to be ticked off. But November 1 has not yet arrived. If your teacher has a hellish weekend in store because he procrastinated, well, that’s his own darn fault. But if he makes the deadline–which he almost certainly will–then what good is this stress doing you?

And, for what it’s worth, are all of your friends done with their EA/ED apps? I would suspect not.

Thanks for the response, I sent him a small reminder email (didnt forget to thank him once again) and he said he would get it out by this weekend. Hopefully all is good

Thanks a lot :)
