On the recommenders page of any college, it says that my recommenders and counselor “started” on a certain date. Will it ever say if they “finished” or do I just assume that they uploaded their file and are done? Thanks!!
Yes, it will tell you when they have completed their letters. By saying “Started” on a date, it means that the recommenders have started putting information into their recommendation. When they are all finished, it will say “Submitted” and give the date that they submitted everything. So if it still says “Started” on your Common App, your recommenders are not finished with everything yet.
Perhaps we made a mistake, but once our part of the application was completed, we submitted. Should we have waited until the “Started” had changed to “Submitted”? We has assumed the recommenders will finish it in due time, but we wanted to get our part to the school sooner than later. Was that a mistake?
@psywar, it’s OK for the student to submit his/her common app once it is completed, including the supplement (if any). You do not have to wait until teacher recs are completed.
