Record applications to Miami University

The following article posted on the Miami U main web site explains in detail:

In summary, Ohio in-state and domestic multi-cultural applications are up significantly. Like many other colleges, foreign applications are down significantly (likely due to the current political climate.) Total applications are up roughly 1%. The average stats of the total application pool are up slightly over last year: 3.74 GPA and 27.7 ACT. Given these stats, and the fact that they are aiming for a slightly smaller incoming class (3700 vs 3800 this past fall) it is reasonable to assume that the Miami U admissions team is aiming for increased selectivity resulting in a slight uptick in stats of next fall’s incoming class. The stats for the current first-year class (those having chosen to attend only) is 3.77 GPA and 28.5 ACT, so I would expect both numbers to improve slightly for the next incoming class.

I appreciate your posting this, LoveandHonor. I am particularly glad to know the school is working to build a more diverse student body (though it is disheartening to think that international students might be less inclined to apply to American schools.)
