A Question

Hey i am thinking about applying to Miami next year and i have a few questions, so any answers would be helpful and appreciated. So my total high school gpa is 3.666 and my sat's are 1740. And i have a lot of extra curricular activities mainly AMIGOS. I am a little under the average student at Miami and i was wondering what things help one get in. I'm from California, i'm asian and both my parents went to Miami. Since it's a public school, does legacy count toward anything. And i heard that being anything other than white at miami is only a bonus. What about out of state ? Is any of thistrue??
Thanks

What is your intended major? Have you visited campus?

I am not sure exactly sure what i want to major in, but something along the lines of business. I have been to the campus, and i really liked it. Very different than what i am used to , but it was beautiful and chill.

I'm a proud Miami alum, and here is my opinion. There are no guarantees - but Miami is trying to improve its racial diversity, so I do think that will work in your favor. My understanding is that the overall quality of applicants is up versus last year, so I'm not sure how your GPA and test scores would compare. However, your minority and legacy status may help you if you are on the bubble. Like most schools, Miami wants students that really want to be here, not their sixth choice school. You need to reach out to the Miami admissions staff and make it clear to them that you are serious about coming here. That could ultimately make the difference if you are on the bubble. My instincts tell me you have a good shot. Good luck!
