Has anyone else applied to this program?

I’m not sure if the interview is a good sign or not. I do know that my son did not get an interview, and did not get in. I believe that there was another parent on CC who’s child did get an interview - I haven’t seen any mention about acceptance/rejection for them - you might want to send them a PM and see what their experience was. Their user name is dgialanella. Best of luck to you - where else have you applied?

Thank you for the information! Hopefully the interview will be a good sign.

I also applied to the Bandier program at Syracuse and to the Music Industry programs at USC, Northeastern and Drexel, but my top choice is the Clive Davis program.

When did you hear about the interview? my d applied for Clive Davis program but has heard nothing.

I heard from them two days ago. I’m not sure it means anything, so don’t panic, it might happen that they are sure of some applicants while not so sure of others, and in that case an interview helps them out.

Ok thanks- do u live on the east coast? we are on the left coast.

No, I’m an international student and was notified by email.

Hi, I just applied to the Clive Davis Recorded music program for the fall 2010 semester, I was wondering what did you guys send in for your portfolio? What do they want to see in your portfolio? As a creative sample I sent in professionally recorded songs I did with a successful record producer, I have a 3.8 GPA, some amateur performances and extra curricular activities. What are my chances of getting in? Is anyone here in the Clive Davis program? Or know anyone that is?..Do you have to have a lot of experience in order to get in?..I am really concerned, this is really really important for me. I am a transfer student and I didnt have great grades in Highschool but I have taken well over 35 credits already in a two year college and my GPA is 3.8 so I hope they dont pay attention to Highschool…
Can anyone help me?..please?
thanks!

Hi Acmusic20. My d is a singer/songwriter who performs her own music. She plays in coffee houses and open mics and has had many years of theatre, voice lessons and dance.
Her creative portfolio consisted of her lyric sheets and home made video recordings of her songs and live performances as well as resume, headshot and recommendation letter. Perhaps if the recordings had been professionally done she would have gotten in since there is no live audition. It would be best to contact faculty members and show your interest ad visit the department if possible. She got into her top 3 choices-places where she could audition live so she is very happy.
Good luck with your application.

I applied as a producer and sent samples of 4 songs (a bit more than 1min each) that were composed, recorded, produced and mixed by me. I didn’t record anything professionally, but used a friend’s home studio (which is basically just a laptop, a cool mic and a mixer) so I wouldn’t worry about that. Of course if you can afford and would feel more comfortable making a professional recording do so, in my case I thought it wouldn’t make a difference and didn’t want to waste money on it and ultimately I felt more comfortable recording at a friend’s house that in a studio.

In my opinion show them you’ve got the talent but also show them you’ve got drive. Don’t think the creative portfolio is the only part of the application, I am pretty sure that the other parts are really important as well.

Good luck!

Hi poncem, I am applying into Clive Davis Department Of Recorded Music as an international transfer student, I was wondering if you could give me some tips that I should keep in mind for my application. I have selected 2 of my own instrumentals which were produced, composed and mixed by me. I wrote a simple essay without using much of hard words but I wrote the truth about how much I am interested in music, hoping for your reply.
