recording community service hours...

I did around 200~or so hours of community service during high school…

and I was wondering what to do with the commonapp ‘volunteer activities’ section…

Do I NEED to attach an official form that says that I did so and so hours

at so and so organization?

(Some of my hours weren’t officially recorded in many of these places)

…and this is funny, but one of this place I did community service had its president go to jail for some crime…-_-…

all my records are lost, of course. Can I still put the hours I did there in?

…or do I just need to write in the hours, w/o the official documented forms?

If I just put in the hours, would they think I’m making the whole stuff up?

Please help me!! :(

In response to question 1: You don't need to attach an official form. In fact, the admissions officers would probably resent having to dig through all that extra paper.

Question 2: Of course you can put down those hours! You did the work and deserve the credit for it.

As a rule, admissions officers are too swamped to "fact check" your application. Unless they've already come upon some inconsistencies in your app, they will trust that you've done the work you've listed.
