Would it be really repetitive for a recruited athlete to write their admissions essay on what they have learned through playing their sport or something of that sort? I wrote my extra curricular short essay on my sport and a lot of my activities have to do with it (i ref, i coach camps, i volunteer coach in the spring) so is also writing about it in my essay really excessive? Or do they almost expect the athletes to write about their sports? They say to write about your passion and it's my passion, but then again I don't want to seem too one-dimensional. If it makes any difference, I'll most likely be applying at either Bucknell or Davidson.

Even though it is your passion i wouldn't advise you to write about it. Coaches usually tell the athletes not to write about sports to give the admission officiers a different aspect of yourself. The coaches say they will be talking about you as athlete if you're recruited so you don't need to tell them in an essay. This is just what i've heard from a few universities that are pretty elite academically.

If you can write a really good essay that involves your sport then go for it. I wrote about my sport and I got into Stanford.

I wouldn't write about it, but hey, it's up to you ultimately.
