Recs for an old lady...

Hello People,

I'm planning on applying to college (somewhere, eventually) and was wondering about recommendations. Since I am an aging 22 year old - and will probably only apply in 2 years - can you tell me what recs I could provide that aren't from teachers?

Is a teacher rec a must? ('Cause I can't even remember most names of mine :x)

Also, is the age issue being taken into account and could I just provide recs from employers?... Help!

Thanks a lot!

This varies from college to college. Large universities typically have " re-entry" programs for women who are not of traditional college age. My advice is figure out where you want to go and find out what they require. Call the admissions offices of your prospective schools they will advise you how to proceed. Good Luck!

Hi Lolly,

I'm in a similar boat! I'm 20 and applying to be a member of the Class of 2013. As HistoryMom said, you should call and ask, but don't worry, most schools don't require a teacher rec. My best letter of recommendation (which I've sent to all of the schools I've applied to) is from my employer; the colleges I've applied to have been impressed by it. I also have a teacher rec because I was basically best friends with my History teacher, lol, but I've only sent that to a few colleges.

Most schools understand that non-traditional students don't keep in touch with their teachers for 2-4 years after they graduate. =)

Best of luck!!

Hehe, good to know!
Thanks so much for the help :)
