Hi,

So I have asked my science teacher all the way in September to write my letters of rec for me. I'm not exactly sure how the process goes at our school, but I think as soon as the teacher is done with all the paper applications, she gives it to the transcript secretary in the office to mail out. Now, I have a school where all the materials have to be in by Dec 1, but I just contacted an admissions counselor and she said that she didn't receive my science teacher letter of rec yet. This week is Thanksgiving break, and our office and teachers specifically said to us students that they will not be doing any work for us. By the time break is done (11/29), it will probably be too late to ask my teacher to write another letter of rec and have it sent in by the Dec 1 deadline. What should I do: give up on this school all together, or ask the counselor to extend my deadline? If she did extend the deadline, would that mean that I am considered more lightly than other applicants?

Thank you for helping me out!!! I really hate how our school is so bureaucratic about things like this!! :(
