Recs from famous people?

I have some strong connections to USC. I know a creative writing proffesor there who is a published poet who has helped me in writing my "Invisible Children" poetry book in which I'm connected to Invisibile Children because I was their poster boy and I know the filmmakers.

I'm sure I can get recs from them. How much consideration do admissions put into these recs??

imagine...you getting in b/c of the celebrity factor

it would be a great deciding factor. just make sure the writer explains a bit about their work.

imagine me getting in because of a celebrity factor? well invisible children is a nation-wide prganization where I have raised close to ten thousand dollars over the last two yrs and I'm just hoping to get a rec from the filmmakers who started it all.

Ummm.... have you actaully looked at USC's recommendation form?

<a href="http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0910/Form4.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0910/Form4.pdf</a></p>

They want only one rec. And this rec should discuss your academic potential and achievement. Do you think your "connection" is the best one to discuss this? Really? Most people find "name dropping" to be rather odious. Don't do it.

I think I would add it as a suppliment, but don't think it will get you in. However, that could be a deciding factor.

If the person writing it doesn't really know you well enough to write a good rec, it can end up hurting you.
