Yeah I really hope they didn’t admit students based on how much money they need… Mine would have to be 100% since I’m an independent student haha.
I’m also a needy student. I wonder if financial need has some bearing on decision times.
Reed is need blind which means they offer admissions without looking at your finances. For us, our need is 100% and my son got the email last night.
So… it’s roughly one hour until they may start sending the second batch of emails right? Got my fingers crossed
Admission decisions are indeed need blind, but I have no idea how much the “we want this kid” factors into the financial aid offers. Good luck to all of you.
Reed is not need-blind but they claim to meet 100% of your need if you are admitted.
I can’t remember exactly where I read it but they are effectively need-blind for the majority of applicants (90%) but when grant money runs out they have to start considering who can pay.
They are what they call “need aware.” My understanding is that they admit their top candidates on a need blind basis and then they start considering aid needed for the others. That may be an issue here as well.
I’ve read that they’re need aware on college confidential threads and in all their literature I’ve read they just say they meet full need for admitted students, so I assumed they weren’t entirely need blind.
For the international applicants, was the email you got also titled “It’s Friday and we’re in love”?
Because it would have been Saturday when you received it.

Thus, Reed is need-aware, not need blind, but meets 100% of need.
Any word anyone? I am hearing anecdotally through a friend that a friend of hers got an acceptance email from Reed this morning.

It’s possible that we won’t be hearing anything until Monday.
It seems that Reed is only emailing people, rejections aside, whose packages have been sent out, and since the post office isn’t open tomorrow…
