Ahh waitlisted,

My daughter got in! YAY! No information about financial aid yet though. Anyone know when that comes?

I got waitlisted

look I believe I won’t get in so is there any advice you could give to me for the upcoming get missions season
by the way I’m an international student

Waitlisted. Target by stats. What a blow.

This Thread seems unusually quiet. Does anyone know if there is another place where Reed applicants are commiserating? Like on Reddit or something?

Daughter was waitlisted and will not pursue further. I think she has decided that Reed is not her first choice based on other acceptances. This thread IS very quiet.

In my mind I’m kind of attributing it to the type of student (in a good way) that applies to it. Mine was WL as well. It was a target and he visited/interviewed early so this was a surprise. I imagine there will be a not-insignificant amount of movement on the WL. My kid had 5(!) waitlists - ALL desirable/equivalent schools, so we will be having serious discussions about how to manage them.

I think there are a lot of feelings around the college admission process, and people are processing the current state of things. Some kids have 6+ acceptances, and they’re hoarding them like dragons, while they ponder their choices very slowly. Other kids have nothing but waitlists (and a safety school), and they’re hoping maybe the waitlists will move before a deposit has to be made. Also, this site requiring a login before people can look around is probably keeping a fair number of folks from even looking to see what is available here.

My daughter applied to 13 schools (still waiting on two). Of the eleven in so far she got four acceptances, four waitlists, and three rejections. We’ll do some more visits in the next two weeks. She is going to stay on one waitlist and will see what happens. We’re very happy that she has some good schools to choose from; have read about several students on CC who have only received waitlist and rejection notices after applying to more schools than my daughter did.

OMG those poor kids!!
We had to cast a really wide net because my S21 did a late switch from conservatory admissions to LAC’s. He’d been in conservatory mindset for 3 years and had NO idea what he wanted. So, embarrassed to say, he applied to a wide variety of schools - 20. Thankfully by the end, he figured out what he wanted. Accepted at 5 safeties (we have declined 2). WL at 5 (will have him accept WL at 2). Rejected at 8. Waiting at 2. We are well aware of the situation and will have him exit as many schools as he can by Friday.

Son was admitted Early Action – visited and loved it. He is very intellectual but well-rounded, and his decision will likely come down to Reed and Grinnell.

Today I got an e mail from Reed about a dorm, titled “Living on campus at Reed”, however, my daughter is waitlisted and not admitted yet. I’m wondering if anyone else got the same e mail?

Yup, got the same. Our D is also waitlisted.

I emailed the admissions office and asked them to remove me from the “get excited about Reed!!!” type of emails about a week before they released their admissions decisions. Then my S got waitlisted, and I’m very glad I did that. If he does get admitted, and he chooses to go, I can always resubscribe.
