So, today in spanish I got a dumb referral. This is my first referral and the best part is, it was for a stupid reason. The bell was literally going to ring in 2 minutes, the teacher was saying the homework which I already knew the homework so I pulled out my phone to check my messages since it was the end of class. She took my phone, but then I got it back literally in a minute when the bell rang. She put into Skyward (our online school site) a Verbal Referral. So… my question is will colleges care about this? She said it was a warning. I have never gotten any of these referrals ever, she’s so strict no other teachers do that even to other students. So does this affect college admissions, over a dumb phone that was used at the end of class? Thanks so much. Please I need to know
It could if it is on your transcript or any other forms that colleges’ get. There was a girl in my school who had a similar issue as yours and it went on her official record as “disobeying” and colleges would see it.
Colleges will see it, but I don’t think it’ll make a difference in admisions.
Like 2020classx said, maybe you can find out if referrals are documented on your transcript. If not, you may never have to tell anyone – I believe the discipline question on the Common App is limited to suspension/expulsion and other more serious offenses. Even if colleges do find out about it, I highly doubt they’ll care. It’s minor.
You should ask your guidance counselor if that would even appear on your transcript.
Dude I highly doubt that it will go on your transcript and even if it does there are so many things that colleges look at that this will be a blip on their radar. As long as this isn’t repetitive behavior.
This will make no difference in admissions.
She said it was a warning so, no colleges won’t be informed. There is no place on a transcript for “incivility”. But that is what it is that you did. And that is unacceptable. Lucky she did not throw the phone into the fish tank.
Hint: if you were to do the same thing in a classroom of mine your phone better wear goggles!
so colleges wont see it right? It really wasn’t that big of a deal
