What's the scoop on refrigerators or microwaves for freshmen?
Is there a rental service fro Microfridges?
Are freshmen permitted to have separate fridge and microwave?
When do roommate assignments get mailed?
Thanks.

There is a rental service available... You will receive more information in regards to that with your roommate stuff....
Yes, you can have a separate fridge and microwave. Fridge must be under 4.3 cubic feet.
The assignments should be coming any day now.

yeah...the rental service is useful if you're not in driving distance and/or don't want to have to transport or store the fridge and microwave...it can be a bit costly though every year...

Freshman can have both fridges and microwaves, but they tend to take up a lot of space especially if you live in Sue B or if your roommate brought his/her own set. Try to get into contact with your roommate and coordinate early. :)

I always thought that the rental services were a rip-off.

Each floor of Susan B Anthony (there are six floors of dorm rooms) has a common kitchen equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, oven, stove, sink, yada yada. But those appliances do tend to get messy... people are such pigs. Pray your freshman class isn't extra clumsy/forgetful/daft. You might have to deal with numerous late night fire drills because someone left cookies in an oven or a bag of popcorn in a microwave that caught fire/set off the alarm.

I do not believe there are refrigerators in the Gilbert and Hoeing common kitchens.

I found all the the kitchens to be poorly ventilated. Be careful while cooking! It's good to have some practice before you head off to college. :)

what might be better is to buy a second hand one on line or even a new one and then sell it at the end of the year.

Also, a lot of seniors are selling theirs.

the best way , that i'm doing is, my room mate actually lives in Rochester so he's gonna bring a fridge and just keep it at his house over the summers
