Refund on Orientation?

I found out that warren orientation isnt where i sign up for classes, so i regret paying for it. Is there a way to get a refund? Or is orientation more important than i believe?

Orientation is mandatory for everyone, so you don’t really have much of a choice.

Orientation is a lot of fun. They teach you a lot about what classes you need to take and you meet new friends. Just go, it’s worth it.

It is? Never knew that

Well i guess i dont regret paying anymore :D

Yes it is. No worries, as ucsandiego915 said, it can be pretty fun. I know I met some pretty cool people I still know now (two years later).

If you’re feeling antisocial at orientation time, it doesn’t bode well for the next four years.

Is the one day orientation good enough? 'cause i missed the two day ones.

Orientation is not mandatory. Only international students students have to go. If you’re a new student in the US, you don’t have to. I guess in all other cases it is strongly recommended. UCSD told me that they “encourage” me to go. How does that translate into a requirement? From what I’ve seen, they kind of hide the part about orientation being optional and make it out to be required by saying things like “all new students” attend it when not all students go and it’s not required.

who hasn’t gone?

Definitely. The orientation is about as socially interactive as it gets. Even if it isn’t mandatory (although I think mine was because it was part of the move in), you definitely won’t regret it. A good chunk of the people I know (outside of my major) I met during orientation.

As a warren student you should def. go to orientation. Warren only has one orientation which is basically right before week zero. So you get to move in early and get to meet your suitemates and all that jazz. If you choose not to go, you’ll prob. be the only person in your suite that doesn’t know your other suitemates.

i met many of my closest friends at orientation so it was really worth it for me. i combined orientation with the early move in day so i didn’t have to make the extra trip. in addition, even if some of it may be boring, it’s really just one day of your life.
