Reg Decision - Has anyone been accepted yet?

I know someone who applied for a seperate college (not Tisch) and got in. Has Tisch sent out acceptance letters yet?

I don't think so.

No, you gotta wait til the regular decision date, April 1st. That is when they will be mailed/possibly recieved, so you have a bit longer to wait.

There is, or was at least last year, some letter that was sent out called "Saturday In the Square" I believe. There were a bunch of posts on this forum last year around this time, so I'll try to bump those if I can find those. I don't know the details on that because I was ED.

Chris

I just got my acceptance letter. :-)

I just got my acceptance packet in the mail!!

Yay and congrats to HousePetMarla and eliasrmt! You must be so happy. It's fabulous news. Enjoy it. (And HousePetMarla, I love your screen name. :))

My daughter's acceptance package arrived yesterday! Unfortunately the finacial aid package was so dismal there is no way she will attend. Thank goodness she has other options and it wasn't near the top of her list! But the RD letters are in the mail, so hang tight everyone! And best of luck to those waiting!

Congrats on your D's acceptance, nydancemom. I am sure your daughter was excited to get into CAP21, so it's too bad that the financial aid package will not work out. (Did the FA info come in the same packet? Just wondering how all this works ...)

mine came in the same packet...i actually thought i didnt get financial aid because i was so excited and confused that i couldn't really find it...lol

thanks for the compliment...any chance you know what it means? it's so obvious and from a popular source...but no one ever gets it!

Fight Club? :)

Got mine today. Financial aid is so incredibly dreadful I could just die. Oy vey. Still, nice to get the official letter...

Did any acceptances not receive that circle in the square invite?

My D was accepted into CAP21 MT and WAS NOT invited to Sat in the Square (puzzling as 2 of her classmates did - lower stats than hers but they are male).

Also, we too got very dismal financial aid - almost laughable after hearing of 5.5% tuition increase.

Wow, it sounds as if people don't feel their FA offerings from NYU are very good this year. I thought NYU was reputed to be quite generous with financial aid ...

I had always heard NYU was terrible with financial aid with a few exceptions--SoozieVT's daughter being one, obviously (and from what I know from people who have met her--deservedly so). Our package included a scholarship which was laughably small considering how expensive NYU is and a gazillion loans either in daughter's name or PLUS loans--truly unbelievable. And cost for Tisch next year is over $52000, up over $2000 from last year. So you can bet it will increase every year as most colleges do. Wow!!!

My d financial aid package was dismal as well! How depressing! She has great scholarships from other MT programs, but she really loves NYU. Oh well, I guess we will be living on PBJ sandwhiches and hotdogs for the next 4 years. She loves BoCo as well, but we haven't received FA info from them yet. We are not holding out much hope since they don't give academic scholarships and she is a saprano. At the parents info session we were told that there are very few scholarsips available for sapranos.

Why are there so few scholarships at BoCO for sopranos, Nolamom? Do you know? Is it that sopranos are ubiquitous?

I am not sure. My husband went with d to BoCo audition and relayed that info to me. I asked the same question. He seemed to think that BoCo already had a lot of saprano students in the upper classes and that they were looking to offer scholarships to other voice types in the incoming freshman class. After my husband told me that, I pretty much wrote BoCo off as a rejection, as she has an opera type voice and has not yet learned to belt. Her acceptance was a happy surprise!

NYU is notoriously stingy with dollars! This was posted over in the general NYU thread regarding tuition over the four years our kids might be there:

We too have some other excellent (and high scholarship dollar) choices....but it aint NY....
:p

I have always heard that the aid was horrible but i received my FA package yesterday and it was really generous. Should i expect significantly lower aid next year? Does NYU give freshman financial preference?
