For people attending BU this year, did you have Pell Grant somewhere in your financial aid package if you’re eligible? I looked into past years and it showed up for people, which is where my concern is coming from. My EFC is 0 and I definitely should be eligible for Pell Grant.
I e-mailed the finaid people on this matter but they haven’t replied back yet.

Well they subtracted equal amount of money from my BU grant with the money I received so that nothing changed. Disappointed to say the least but I was too hopeful I guess.

BU was really stingy with financial aid this year. What I hate is that they stiffed me for no reason. Last year, I was pretty much need based aid and a small outside scholarship. My EFC was~ 2500. During my freshman year, I very well in my sport. Thus, I was extended an athletic scholarship after FinAid awards were out. Of course, I couldn’t accept both and my need based aid was less. I rejected $39k in BU grant but yet, BU had the nerve to not give me my pell grant.

I mean, how do you go against federal government’s decision of my need? Doling out pell grants doesn’t affect BU’s funding. They said my parents made to much money, even though they brought in $4k less than last year. And, as with last year, they don’t pay for anything for me. I hope they don’t reject my appeal.

I was counting on pell grant too. I also sent an appeal a few weeks ago. Good luck to you.

Well I was denied.

You can always re-appeal. They approved mine but it took a whole bunch of documentation for them to see their mistake.

Did they ever tell you why they denied your appeal? If not, I would call in and get an explanation, especially if your EFC is zero. If you don’t mind me asking, how much aid did BU give you and what types?

If it’s all need based, BU rarely fulfills all of the need with out maxing out federal loans
