Regarding to schools/majors in Columbia

Hi, I am currently a Grade 11 student and obviouly not even accepted to Columbia yet, but I just have some geneal questions about Columbia.
1) Do I have to chose a major/school when I apply to Columbia?
2) After I get accepted...say...by the Fine Arts and Science school can I still change school after I got in? and is it very difficult? As I am interested in both the fine arts programs and the business school.
3) Is there any difference in the Undergraduate program between schools?

I can answer the first one.

Yes you have to choose one between Columbia College and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

It is somewhat difficult to switch between the two schools at Columbia. I believe they make you apply as a transfer student, though if you do well in the first school, you probably receive preferential treatment. There is no undergrad business school or major at Columbia. You may be able to take some classes, but this might be the school for you.

The Core is slightly different in the College and the SEAS.

Check out the undergrad admissions website. There’s tons of info there.

Thank you very much for the help. Is it possible for me to acquire MBA after I finished the Fine Arts undergraduate program or I can only chose from masters within fine arts.(Do I just need to take all the pre-requisites?)

Lol…fine arts. It’s called Columbia College (of Arts and Sciences, but no one calls it that because it sounds too much like the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences). Those “fine arts” you’re referring to include the humanities and social sciences…and yes, we do have visual arts, theater, music, and dance degrees. The only majors that aren’t in Columbia College are engineering ones. There’s no business major proper, just a business management minor which really only has 4 proper business classes. You can apply for an MBA, but don’t expect to get in if you’re attempting to do so right after graduating from undergrad with no work experience.
