Regarding which textbooks/review books to get.

So for next year I am taking AP physics C E&M and mechanics, macro/micro, and human geography. These are the AP classes I am self studying, i do have like 3 other AP exams but I have those covered already. So for these exams which textbooks and review books would you guys recommend. Because I want to start studying during the summer for some of these exams and would appreciate some recommendations. Thanks :)

Any recommendations :frowning: I’m trying to study these over the summer. Would also appreciate a recommendation for art history too. Thanks

I saw you asking for my recommendation for AP Art History on another board but I thought it would be better to reply to you on this board. :)

If you have never been exposed to art, you should buy an actual textbook. I suggest Gardner’s Art throughout the Ages, 12th edition. I believe you can get a copy of this version for about 15 dollars used on Amazon. It’s daunting, but it’s required for a course like this. You just can’t pick up a Barron’s for AP Art History like you would for AP Human or even AP World and be prepared for the exam. I also strongly suggest The Annotated Mona Lisa, it contains color photos of art and does a efficient job of summarizing landmark artists and art movements. Barron’s is not necessary if you get Gardner’s and the Ann. Mona; you can look over how the exam will be structured on the CollegeBoard website.

Also as a tip, the exam focuses mostly on work inside the european tradition, but there will be artwork from outside the european tradition (like things from China, India, Native American tribes, etc.), however it is not important to read the Gardner’s chapters on outside european socities, but utilize the Ann. Mona to review and get a few artworks that you could use outside the european tradition on one of your essays (which will be required by the prompt).

Oh, and for AP Human I recommmend Barron’s. Don’t even bother buying a textbook.

Finally, If you have any more questions feel free to ask, I don’t mind helping.

Haha Thanks!!! I was also thinking of taking AP euro with AP art history after you were talking a lot about european tradition. Would you say that they are related enough that it would be beneficial to take both exams in the same year? I am also taking AP US History for a class so I’m not worrying about that. And also any tips for AP Physic’s C?

For AP Physics C you don’t need a textbook, you should use MIT OpenCourseWare.

http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/physics

The video lectures in 8.01 Fall 1999 and 8.02 Spring 2002 are VERY, VERY useful. They were made by Walter Lewin, you’ll love him. The 8.01SC and 8.02SC courses have the study material you’ll need as well. Use Barron’s or old College Board tests for practice tests.

Yes, you could say that AP Euro, AP Art History, and AP World relate to each other.

Ap Human Geo

 • it really doesn’t matter, i used PR. REA and Barrons are also good

AP Micro Macro

 • i bought barrons, PR, and 5 Steps
 • 5 steps is by far the best on the market, PR sucked and I didn’t even open Barrons cuz 5 steps was awesome

Aight. Thanks. I was looking through some threads and this is what I’m getting
AP Art History- Gardner’s Art through the ages and Annotated Mona Lisa
AP Human Geography- Places and Regions in Human context ( Some people recommended it and it’s pretty cheap so I’m going for it. It also has good reviews )
AP Macro/Micro Economics - Essential of Economics by Mankiw and Economics by Mcconell
Enviromental Science - Earth as a living planet by Botkins
and for Physics C - MIT open course ware and the internet :)

There are some free online economics textbooks like:
