I'm from new york so I have to take the regents in my classes each year. I know that only ny schools look at them...does nyu really look at them? I had an A- in math but I received a C on the regents because I was really sick that day. Do regents' play an important role in admissions?

What are regents?

NY state standardized tests. I doubt it makes a difference; the only schools that care are SUNY schools.

I would suggest taking it over again. Regents are given in Jan, Aug, and June.

regents play no impact in admissions, they "just want to see that you have passed"

iheartny...i dont think you can take them over again unless you fail they're not like sats

okay thanks mattistotle i hope so!

dont worry about the regents only some ny and possibly california high school students take them. I go to Xavier in NYC and we dont have to take regents so as long as you pass the regents and therefore graduate high school they dont matter

Yes you can. They will show your regents grades on your transcript. If this is one little blip on your transcript I don't see it being a huge problem, but if you think your app will be somewhat weak compared to other applicants, I would definitely take them over.

Private schools are much different.

NYU specifically says Regents have no bearing on Admissions as long as you pass. its even in FAQ

Yes you can take them over if you wish, especially one's like English which many schools allow their students to take early.

I'm from NY too and a little word of advice about the Math Regents: if you get a C, NYU's not gonna frown upon it. It's one of the lowest scoring ones. I got a 78 on Math B after averaging an 87 in the class and scored between from 91-100 on my 9 other Regents'. Most kids in my grade got below an 85 on the Math B regents, and most now don't even pass the Math A regents...or the Physics regents for that matter. We switched to the County version. I think I'm rambling now.

POINT: A bad Regents grade won't affect your admission or non-admission.
