Regents Schoalrship

Did anyone else receive the letter?

Also, is there a difference between the CHP and this? Both seem to offer the same thing.

Thanks.

I got both. I think if you get both, regents just gives you $2,500, but I may be wrong.

Edit: I don’t want to start a separate thread for a related question, so: Does Irvine not send a formal acceptance letter?

Hmm I got into CHP but I haven’t received a regents scholarship letter yet.

@Rush

I had the same question. I’m not sure if everybody gets theirs after March, or if they just don’t send them out. My school has a “wall of fame” for acceptance letters and I’m planning on using the Regents invitation for that, since I didn’t get a letter…

I got one, too! Was happy to receive one, was sad to find out that it used to be worth $9,000 but is now worth $2,500 due to CA budget cuts.

The CHP and Regent’s Scholarships do not go hand-in-hand. Usually, there are more people who get into the program than there are people who get the Regent’s Scholarship. Almost all people who’ve gotten the scholarship were admitted to the CHP (but not vice versa). Some of those people even declined entering the honors program.

What would be some of the reasons for declining the Honors Program o.o?

The Honors Program requires a lot of classes: a science core, a humanities core, and a social science core. I mean I guess that’s a good reason to decline it. It doesn’t make sense for an engineering major who hates history and English to take literature classes.

Daughter has received both the CHP and Regents.

Besides $2,500 from the Regents scholarship, can anyone tell me what benefits a student will receive that they don’t get from CHP? Based off what I’ve read, they seem to offer a lot of the same benefits.

The only difference I can see is the money.

If you received a scholarship will it already appear online, or did you get a notification in the mail?

DancinggBear, I received a letter in the mail, and when I checked online it also showed up on the left part of the screen (where you check your acceptance status). So, both.

Got both CHP and Regents via email (for CHP) and mail (CHP and Regents)

They select Regents’ Scholars from the CHP pool. Therefore, anyone who has the Regent’s Scholarship should have been invited into CHP, but not the other way around. They are separate in that you can leave/decline CHP and still keep your Regent’s Scholarship. I believe there’s slightly higher GPA requirements to maintain Regents’ Scholar. Regent’s Scholar is beneficial mostly only if you decide not to join/stay with CHP since you still get priority enrollment and the scholarship money, as long as you keep up the minimum GPA each year.

I got both too, I’m really confused…
