Regents UCLA

Thanks for the information!

My son recieved the Regents email last year. He found out on the day of his UCLA acceptance that he also received the Regent Scholarship. Good luck!!

are the regents emails sent out in waves, im in china,

is it for internationals as well

Just how prestigious does one’s application have to be to be offered the Regents Scholarship??? I think I’m pretty well off, with a 4.4 UC GPA and 32 ACT, but sadly I didn’t get a regents email. What are your guys’ stats of the ones who got the email?

33 Act
4.6 Uc gpa
4.0 unweighted
Got invite

2370 SAT (1600 CR + M)
4.65 UC GPA (fully weighted)
3.95 UW GPA
I was also invited.

Got the email! 35 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA
How competitive is the scholarship?

So… can someone please just reconfirm? If I got the email to APPLY for the UCLA regents scholarship… I am pretty much guaranteed admission? Thanks!

sorry can someone just reconfirm for me, the invitation for the alumni scholarship is NOT the regents scholarship right?

@ShaneBlakeEy‌ Think of it like this. The office of UCLA Honor, Awards, and Financial Aid Office is given a list of the Top 1.5% of the applicant pool, and gives the students on this list the chance to compete for the Regents scholarship (which is approximately the top 975 to 1000 students in the pool). However, the office of UCLA Admissions offers the top 17% (or so) the actual admission to UCLA.

It’s not exactly admission, but its essentially admission because, barring anything happening to your academic or behavioral status, you’re already the top 1.5% of a university’s applicant pool that accepts the top 17%.

@binatang‌ And no, the Alumni Scholarship Invitation is not the same as the Regents Email.

Do they send it out in waves? Or if you havent received it yet will you not be receiving it at all?

I am also wondering if they send it out in waves

@LesPronoms I sure hope you are right! Thanks and congrats!

I got invitation email yesterday. I think they were sending it out in waves yesterday afternoon, but not sure they’ve finished sending all out.

Has anybody uploaded a letter of recommendation in PDF file? I tried to do it, the website, in red letters, gave me a warning that the file should be in PDF. It did not recognize my PDF file and refused to take it. Did anybody have this kind of problems? Also the website reloaded all the time.

@james111
My son hasn’t gotten the letter of rec from his teacher yet.
Hopefully he can get it early next week.
Please let us know if you figure something out.

From the people posting their stats it seems the cut off GPA was about 4.6

@james111 I haven’t tried yet. But I am wondering: would submitting a PDF (rather than having the recommender directly submit) reflect poorly in any way because it would suggest that we have read the letter, and therefore possibly had an influence on it?

@ShaneBlakeEy
Hmmm… Yes, that’s a good point.
