For the people who got under 2000 on the SAT and didn't get the Regents, it's not as disappointing as the people who got 2200s and 2300s on the SAT and din't get the Regents. It feels like your efforts didn't pay off.

Yeah Eastbay, I completely agree with you.

Does that mean that there definitely aren't any more emails coming out?

They're emails. It takes at most 2 seconds to go from berkeley.edu to gmail.com or any popular email provider that is sure to have responsive servers. I doubt that they would send emails in waves either; I know a few people at school got the email and the letter, which arrived in one day, by the way.

I agree, but I don't feel too sorry for the people who got 2200s since there are tons of them. Those who got mid-high 2300s and didn't get it must be wondering why they didn't, but I do know people with perfect scores and high GPAs who didn't get it. I think that commitment in academia outside of the classroom was an important criterion; running a business, publishing books, or winning science fairs seem to be worth more than, say, dance or community service; I had only a few hours of community service on my application and yet got the letter.

Yeah SQL, I figured so much. I guess I was just clinging to a last bit of hope.

In any case, CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who did receive the letter, and good luck at your interviews! :)

im in the central valley and i havent got a letter yet...

you guys are putting so much emphasis on SATs.. but colleges definitely weigh GPA heavier than SATs and the difficulty of the classes you take and your AP scores.. AP Physics C, Calc BC, etc. are some of the APs they really like to see.

So, is this a probable acceptance or a definite acceptance?

I believe transfer students are not notified for Regents until March. I have to check that though.

can anyone tell us about the interview? how formal is it and how much does it weigh into your chances at the scholarship?

Are out of state students on the same Regents notification and acceptance schedule as in-state? Thanks

it's a definite acceptance unless you get below a 3.0GPA this semester. the interview is probably the sole determination of whether you get it as of my experiences last year.. interview is semi-formal.. you get paired up with a faculty member of your major for a half an hour talk.. may be less if you suck at interviewing.

I got it too!
SAT I: 2330
SAT II: 800s on Math II, Chem, Bio
GPA: Not sure what my UC GPA is, but probably pretty close to the highest it can be
Oh, and I got UCLA's as well. Ugh, that application is due today with two essays. Goodbye I need to write them

2250/33 and nothing :(

So far I've only gotten an email from UC Irvine; I hope that's not the only place that I got Regent's :(

I'm from Socal and I received my Regents email at 1:32 today. I got a 2260, single sitting. Are interviews definitely at Berkeley?

Well, I'm just very glad that Berkeley doesn't require two supplemental essays like UCLA does. I submitted the essays before the 5:00 PM deadline, but due to a server issue, it didn't go through. Fortunately, they extended the deadline to the 20th. Phew.

Interview + free food + sleepover > essays + anxiety

Congrats, TheLorax.

The So Cal interviews take place at a hotel in LA, the Wilshire Grand if I recall correctly. But you can participate in their Overnight Stay Program on campus. There are different dates to pick from but they recommend that the So Cal students pick the April one, because it is the night before Cal Day. You should also receive a packet in snail mail that explains it all in detail.

i kinda like the LA one better than the CAL one. interviews make me nervous

do we have to dress up formally to the interview? or just semi-formal?

sorry, are only in state people considered for this scholarship?

hmmm maybe. cuz the letter says "northern california applicants are invited to interview at berkeley" and "southern california applicants are invited to LA" to do something.

so yeah probably only for in state.
