Do colleges really look at it? Because i feel like i'm taking all these extra classes for the advance regents dipolma for nothing.. especially since i'm applying to alot of out of state colleges?

most states have their own equivalent to the regents, so it doesn’t hurt to show that you’ve performed well on NY’s version of a state test. and yes, NY schools do look at them

Most out of state schools don’t care about NY Regents exams. You’d be surprised how many NYS high schools (public, private, parochial) with great college placement stats do NOT require their students to take Regents exams.

It really isn’t that difficult to obtain an Advanced Regents Diploma… all you have to do is pass the Regents in classes that are part of a standard high school sequence (English, Global, U.S., 2 science, 2 or 3 math, and a foreign language). I think that you should go for the most advanced diploma you can reasonably achieve. As far as I know, out of state schools don’t look at the actual grades that you get on the test, but they would like to see that you learned these standard subjects.

Local - no regents
Regents - pass basic high school regents
Avd Regents - pass all regents like chem physics
Avd Regents with honors - all regents avg over 90
