Regional auditions

tashmu, ill be in a blue sweater and black skirt, and wearing a green leotard for dance and i have red hair

just got back from my audition. I spent the entirety of my two songs cracking, no joke. But the dance audition was amazing, so much fun. I loved the woman, Michelle, who ran it. There were also only 6 people in my group. Even if I now have no chance of getting in it was worth waiting a few hours to do my dance audition because it was like takinga really great dance class.

how was the dance audition for BoCo? How many combinations? Difficult? I audition at the end of the month... and I'm sure you sounded better in your songs than you think you did- nerves can play with your mind!!

It was easier than syracuse, you just have to be able to think fast. They put a lot of focus on acting through movement which I liked. If it's the same woman she puts you at ease and you don't fell like you're being judged.

Agreed. It was a little difficult but it was more about how you did it than anything else.

Hmm...sounds like the dance audition this year isn't as difficult as last year's, with the tumbling and everything else. That's great to know!

Tumbling? Wow! D auditions Sunday the 18th, anyone else?

If you look back through last year's audition reports apparently there was a backwards tumble in the dance routine. A lot of reports said that BoCo was one of the hardest, if not the hardest, dance audition. Granted it was their first year ever having a dance audition, so I guess things have changed a bit.

Good luck to your daughter this weekend!

Thanks, BreakIntoSong!
She felt pretty good about her Syracuse dance audition, so hopefully this one will go well too. How do you feel about taking gen. ed's and using the Northeastern cafe'?

Sarahsmom42,

My D is auditioning on Sunday the 18th also. She will arrive on Sat. Her musical audition is between 11-12 and she will try to dance at the 1:00 dance time. She will be there with her dad. I think she is pretty excited. Good luck to your daughter. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed.

I just found out about the unified audition only recently. Can someone tell me how I should go about signing up? Did the deadline already pass?
Also, how long does the audition take? I think that I'll probably audition in NYC on either Feb 2/3. The problem is that I've already signed up and paid for BOCO's audition on Feb 2. Will this cause problems for me if I want to do the unified audition (which includes BOCO) instead of a seperate one?

Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages to do the unified audition?
What are the requirements?

I was just thinking about what a hassle it is to go from school to school to audition. I would love to do this audition if I still can!

I don't know if you can switch your audition locations. You'd have to try to call BoCo and find out if that's possible. Their appointments are probably already booked, but who knows? Usually you complete all their forms on line, so I'm not sure who you'd contact at the school. I suppose call the admissions department.

Do you understand that each audition is booked through each individual school for the Unifieds? It's not one audition for all the schools with one fee. Your post led me to believe you thought it might be one big audition for all the schools. Maybe I read it wrong. The advantage is that you don't have to fly off to different schools to audition, which means less time and money spent on the different locations. Requirements vary from school to school. You have to read each school's web site to see what you need and if it varies at the Unifieds. Some/most won't have accompaniment at the Unifieds. You'll need a cd of your music. Some even require a cd with you singing to give them to take back to school. Read, read, read each school's individual requirements.

Further - are you sure you didn't already schedule the appointment FOR Unifieds, not realizing? I am not an expert on every school - but I don't know of any that have auditions on campus and at Unifieds the same date. You definitely need to check with someone at the school about your time.
