I am really confused. I looked at all the faq's on my school's website, and it still doesn't make any sense. I am the second person on a waitlist for a course that has two slots open. (I guess two people decided to drop it, probably when they found out the textbook costs $233!) The website says when a seat becomes available, a notification will appear on the registration page of my account, plus I would get an email to my student email address. I have not received an email, nor is there a notification on the registration page that my slot is open. Is it normal for them to take more than a couple of days to contact you after the slot becomes open? Class starts soon and I am getting nervous about not being signed up for enough credits. There is no chance I won't be given the slot before class starts, right? (Unless I am notified and do not respond, of course.)

No one here can answer this question. Contact the department which offers the course or your academic advisor and they should be able to answer the question.

If there are seats open, can’t you just register? Or is it solely based on being on the wait list? Are they maybe not contacting you because you have a full course load already?

I’d email your adviser ASAP and hope they get back to you soon. Only your school will have the specifics.

Sometimes seats are reserved for a particular category of students (majors, first years etc) so even though it looks like there are openings, there really aren’t. Contacting your advisor is the best thing to do in this situation.
