Regular Decision Acceptance Letters

I just checked the mail and I was accepted by Kenyon! I was a little disappointed at that purple thumbs up though - even with the big envelope I prefer the suspense. Before opening that acceptance, Kenyon was maybe at the middle of my college preferences. After opening the acceptance and reading the amazing personalized acceptance letter, it has catapulted to become one of my top choices. Congrats to all who have been accepted!!!

Rivers and Fog--Have you visited Kenyon? It has one of the most beautiful campuses on the planet!

D got letter to day, we are in Colorado. Really the most personalized letter from any school, it made an impression. Trying to decide between Brandeis, Chicago and Kenyan, great choice for an 18 year old to have!

Rivers and Fog - Sometimes I wonder if they do that for the sole sake of the parents who receive the mail while their kid is still at school!

DD and I visited Kenyon last August while school was not in session, but apparently the weather warnings and strikes were! I agree with Hindoo that the campus is magnificent; it was just a slightly weird time when we visited. We also attented an open house in our relative geographical area (probably No Cal as a whole), but we both came away with the feeling that Kenyon didn't necessarily fit what she wanted. With nothing negative to be said about the campus/college in general. The KAC is truely amazing!!!

Actually, 35 years ago, I was a kid in Northern California who was trying to decide between Claremont and Kenyon. I called the admissions office and was put through, by chance, to the admissions director. I told him my name and he said, "Ahh, from California ... then he asked me how my Big Deal activity had turned out in the spring..." The point is: they do that - write personalized stuff in their letters - because they can. They can because they try to learn about each of the kids, and they can because the school and the community has a very long tradition of valuing each of their individuals on their own ...

anotheroldguy, i think erin's mom was talking about the purple thumbs up, but i was really interested by what you had to say about kenyon's treatment of freshmen. I'm going to be putting some serious thought into what college would fit me best in this next month. and erin's mom, being a new york city kid all of my college mail goes into a mailbox in a row with dozens of others from my building. my parents would be able to see my letters before i did if they had their mail keys....but I took their keys off their keychains (with their permission) so that I see first :).

anotheroldguy, whoa....when I was an ignorant precollege kid in So Cal, there were only two schools that anyone ever heard of. You can probably guess what they are. I hadn't even heard of anything in Claremont other than Mount SAC. Kenyon would have sounded like something in Africa at the time......I'm so glad that people have more options that I felt that I did.....I never even knew these sort of schools existed.

R&F - My D applied, to Kenyon, but by the sound of things, it's probably a no go, since with her other acceptances, she's at least received an email. She is having a devil of a time making up her mind anyway, so as bad as it sounds, I'm almost glad Kenyon isn't in the mix. Although, the campus is pretty awesome. Good Luck to you. I hope you do well wherever you land.

Has anyone heard of any rejection letters? Nothing here in Boston yet. Does that mean acceptances probably went out first?

Nothing in SF bay area today, either.

Waitlisted here in Springfield, Ohio, just got it today.

i live in DC, and I got in yesterday!
no scholarship $, but I'm just happy I got in. I loved the personalized letter (I've never seen a school do that before)!!

I'm in NJ and I haven't heard yet!! I'm starting to get really worried. Do they send acceptances first, and then rejections? I just can't imagine how I could be rejected, since it is very much a safety school for me, considering my stats/ECs/achievements are way above par for Kenyon.

Friend of my d's got an acceptance yesterday--she lives in a suburb west of Boston. We live in the Worcester area--no letter here today.

olam36, I haven't gotten mine either, and I only live 4 hours away! I was worried about the same thing, but similar to you, Kenyon is a definite match if not safety school for me as far as stats, ect go. I know a girl in Kentucky who hadn't gotten a letter as of yesterday either.

waitlisted today :o(

I'm in Minnesota and haven't heard anything yet either. ):

My friend in Kentucky didn't get her letter today either...
I'm seriously worried about "waves" of letters since the acceptances came yesterday and saturday and ppl got waitlisted today.
Would this be the right place to ask for stats, ect?

Congrats to all! My dad worked at Kenyon, back in the dark ages, so I practically grew up there. It is a fabulous school and an enviornment that is unique. I tried to get each of my 3 kids to go there - but alas, they had different ideas. Going to Kenyon will be one of the best decisions you could make. Go Lords!

Serenity-Where are you from in MN?

Everyone-Have you been getting emails before the letters? I'm pretty sure they sent me an email first, but that was back in 2002.

I GOT IN
ILLINOIS
they are giving me like 37 grand a year in financial aid... but i think im going go to grinnell most likely.
congrats to those who got in!
