I just received my admission acceptance today which also informs me that I am a recipient of a scholarship at W&M. Why did I receive mine so early? Has anyone else from Regular Decision gotten theirs already? I mean, I'm happy! I just find it strange that I have mine like three weeks before everyone else. 0_0

Monroe Scholars get notified earlier.

We received it today also. It doesn’t say scholarship, it says Monroe Scholars and says we get preferred housing freshman year and up to $3k research stipend.

I got the William and Mary Scholars Award, so I am supposing that people who received a scholarship got notified today. Congratulations, by the way. :)

Those who received a merit award (Monroe Scholars and W&M Scholars) were mailed their decisions last week. Many schools, like W&M, notify their scholarship recipients a bit in advance of their regular decision release. The Monroe award is a scholarship but the money is for research, not tuition. It’s W&M honors program.

Congrats to all!

Does this mean that those that DIDN’T get a merit award packet this week will NOT get a merit award? Or, are there possibly more merit awards going out later?

@woods1234, there will be a few additional recipients as we continue to move applications through our review process but that will be a very small number. Remember, we offer a limited number of merit awards so unfortunately it’s a small cohort of students who we can present one too in the first place. These students represent a very small percentage of our admitted students. The bulk of those will hear from us when we release all decisions.

And when will that be?

We release Regular Decision results by April 1.

is there still a large percentage of students who did not get a scholarship this week who will get accepted?

@heycall, yes. See our response in this thread from March 13. It’s a very small cohort of our admits who get scholarships. The overwhelming majority of those we admit have not been notified but will be when we release decisions to those who applied Regular Decision.
