Regular Decisions Time!

Hanley, you need more than a B average (3.0) to get accepted at UGA. That might be the minimum GPA that they will look at but it isnt like everyone who has it will get in.

Will today be the day they start annoucing decessions again?

My sources say no. ;)

"Hanley, you need more than a B average (3.0) to get accepted at UGA. That might be the minimum GPA that they will look at but it isnt like everyone who has it will get in."

Clearly, but you have to have at least this to be looked at... I was just saying to that sophmore that he needs at least 3 A's to be a candidate. Depending on how UGA weights his school, a 3.0 could be competetive. (if he goes to a good school and UGA has had good experience with that school's former students, he could receive as much as a .4 added weight to his/her GPA)

I hope UGA hurries up with these admission letters. Ole Miss is my second choice, and they have already begun registration for orientation, and the first two orientation sessions are already half full.. If I go ahead and sign up for it, as well as housing, and get into UGA, they only give back half of the money.. so I hope UGA can send out their admission decisions a.s.a.p.

Looking forward to Friday!

Well, take that back.............................

UGA App. Stat. Check is closed until March 31st!
The wait continues, Auburn ran out of dorms, i put faith in UGA's decision!

Cheer up, I had pretty low grades and I still made it into UGA on 17 Feb:

GPA: 3.65
SAT: 1300 Old, 1980 New
ECs: A moderate amount
Essays: Did them the morning I turned in my app.
School: Public Atlanta area High School
URM: Not a URM. (Minority, but not underrepresented)

And I am not attending UGA (though I haven't told them yet) in fall, so my spot will get open.

I'm sure most of you will get in, since from your posts many of you have highers numbers than I do. Good luck!

Well Friday is the big day! Too bad I'll be at a track meet in ALABAMA, hope I can find a computer with internet!

Best wishes to all!

Xshare, First, I'm a diehard Techie, so take pretty much everything I say past this with a grain of salt.

Go to Tech if you're going to a quantitative field. Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Math, whatnot. Go to Tech if you're ready to WORK and step into the real world's ups and downs. I know people who have soared at Tech and I know people who have wanted to kill themselves at Tech. Everyone has a social life, and though Tech has an abysmal male-female ratio, Georgia State is just a mile away (and their dorms are even closer ;) ) so that won't be a problem. And you're in a CITY!

Go to UGA if you're going to major in something more liberal artsy. I've heard many consider it a High School 2.0, and I won't accept not reject that statement- I have very little firsthand knowledge about the school. Many of my friends are indeed going there for the parties, and the Princeton Review does confirm that "Their Students (Almost) Never Study" and "Lots of Hard Liquor" is available.

Even though it is the state's flagship university, there is little doubt Tech has more more prestige- it is way ahead of UGA in most rankings and has 9 engineering programs in the top 10 or some number like that.

Whatever you do, please don't make your college decision based on a dog in a red sweater or a bunch of idiots who have nothing better to do than chant, "To hell with Georgia!"
