^Hah, same here. Good thing I liked Geneseo in case Bard doesn't work out....

accepted (international) as a DSS ..still waiting for the FA...
hope it is full-tuition....

Do you think Bard is a good school?

I got absolutely nothing--no aid, no scholarships. Looks like I'm screwed unless some kind of miracle happens. Is it worth trying to talk to the college about this?

hate to brag, but I just got a 25 thousand/year scholarship (!!!). I definitely won't be passing this up, seeing as Bard is my first choice. has anyone else decided similarly?

Do you think Bard is a good school?

Fortunemama, are you asking current students, or anyone? for what it's worth, I would say certainly. Bard is basically the Ivy of creativity.

Why do many people think that the student body is depressed? Drugs? etc
more than other schools.

I got in, with about $50,000 a year! I'm so excited!

I received the EEC, some other scholarships and probably will get a few thousand more, because the EEC said it would probably go up depending on how much state tuition is in your home state (in North Carolina, like many things, the tuition is low). Much lower than what they approximated it as, but who cares? I'm so shocked.

I'm an art/writing kid. I'm still waiting on Cooper Union, (I got a faculty referral there)... But Bard seems so perfect. I saw Leon Botstein on Colbert Report. It was great. I love the idea creativity and academics can go hand in hand.

i'm an international, i got accepted as a Distinguished Scientist Scholar last week,,,,,however i'm yet hear from the financial aid office,,,,,has any international applicant heard from the financial aid office?

You will be happy in a college that is just the right fit for YOU! Do not be discouraged. It is nothing personal, kiddo. You will attract the right match for yourself, wait and see!

Why do many people think that the student body is depressed? Drugs? etc
more than other schools.

I wouldn't really say drugs, so much as marijuana. it's a progressive, left-wing, arts/liberal arts school, so it attracts a certain type of student (one that probably likes to smoke up.) you get this at any college, and to be honest, I would rather be around kids who like to smoke pot and "intellectualize" rather than tap a keg at the nearest frat party.

as far as the depressed thing, it's all how the person sees it. many students come from the city/other urban areas, so they're not used to waving to everyone they meet. they're friendly without having to prove it. I could certainly see someone from a fraternity at...say...Bucknell seeing Bard as depressing. it's a different environment for a different type of kid, and it's a totally different experience from the typical college. it could be heaven for an open-minded, ambitious, creative kid, or hell for someone who sees college as a four-year party.

just so you know, I don't actually attend Bard (yet; next year), so most of this is coming from reading/talking to students.
