did anyone else get a letter for this? I'd never heard of it before, but it seems pretty awesome...is it really no strings attached? Also, when it says they select the top 150 of their applicants does it mean just from Early Action? Just curious.

Yes; no strings attached so you should definitely take advantage of it if you’ve been selected. Not sure about the second question; I believe there are two Reilly weekends, one for EA admits and one for RD admits, so I’d guess top 150 is referring to EA.

awesome, thanks!

I got one too! Very excited!! It’s particularly an honor I think to get that distinction for EA I’m hoping that getting this means that I will at least be in the running for semifinalist for Hesbrugh-Yusko Scholarship…

Please go…I am telling you the best way to get a feel for which college is best for you is to visit…if a school is going to make that a lot easier, you really should take it…

Did your invitations come in your acceptance packet, or was it a separate letter that just arrived?

I got it in a separate letter

morgan- I was hoping the same thing haha.

hawkswim- I definitely plan on taking it, even though I spent two weeks at Notre Dame last summer

momdoc- it came in a separate letter.

Thanks for the info, cjester and imautubeaddict. I guess we can still hope a day or two more for a letter. :)

What are your stats? Any strong hooks? Just wondering if it’s all all GPA/scores?

Hi, so I’m a freshman at ND now and went on the EA Reilly Weekend. I’m not kidding when I say it was the best weekend of my senior year and was a huge factor in my college decision. Whether ND is your top choice, a safety, or just a random application, GO ON THIS WEEKEND. IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Haha.

By the way I’m pretty sure it’s just based on test scores, although I know people with similar test scores who weren’t invited. But I had a 35 on my ACT and 1540 on the SAT.

My S received notification a few days ago that he was nominated as an early action referral for the Hesburgh-Yusko scholarship, but he was not sent any letter for the Reilly Program, so I don’t think that one qualifies you for the other automatically. Did any one else get this nomination for HYS? We received it via email.

Dungareedoll - I received an email for HYS as well…I guess we just wait for the application now?

For those of you who got a letter for Reilly, what major did you apply under?

^ I applied under Theology.

@Tiger- I’m pretty sure it’s all academics; grades/curriculum and test scores. The letter mentioned extracurricular activities but I think it was just saying that those selected usually have strong EC’s, not that they were a factor. My stats are in the decisions thread but I had 1590/2360 on the SAT and 35 on the ACT, pretty good subject test scores and my grades are pretty good in all the highest level classes I could take…I don’t have any hooks but I don’t think that matters for this

mnms125-- we recd the application email yesterday around 4:00. It’s a lot. I guess its nose to the grind stone again. Good luck…

I’m a physics major going to the Reilly visitation thingy :)

Did anyone else get an email about some sort of change involving collaboration between Reilly and Hesburgh-Yusko? I was looking forward to the possibility of two weekends at Notre Dame but now it looks like it can only be one…and I don’t think it would be too much fun to show up on Reilly weekend and not be able to participate in those events.
I’m not sure if I understood the email correctly because it was rather poorly written, but can anyone confirm this?

It sounds to me like you should sign up for the Reilly Program if you’re interested in going. If you’re selected as a finalist for the Hesburgh-Yusko, they cancel your Reilly Program reservation and you do the Hesburgh activities instead.
