you sound very saucy to me. i think these achievements were given to you by God (i beieve in God). so dont be too proud about them. sure u worked for them but u could as well have not made it so thanx 2 God for ur success.

um not exactly 'God given'... mit-boy's stats are cool... no complaints in that department.

i think no one's answering your question b/c none of us have been in your situation, and none of us know the answers, or even where to begin.

can u e-mail MIT and ask them to look at your app and give u some tips? or do they just throw away the apps after march?

yeah there was a lot of debate about this on the blogs.... general conclusion was - they wont do it. :-/

though i think it were the stats (grades/scores) that hurt me... (or should I say, I'd like to believe it was so)

agreed MIT_BOY's stats r really cool. but i also wtill hold my believe in God.

merc ask questions about mit after the iit exam, u may not want to come to mit if you get into iit. if you don't make it into iit, then you can take a drop study 4 iit again while imprving yr mit application.
its not as straight forward to get in US colls. as we take into account various things which we dont have control over, I had very good sat scores, neat essays but still didn't get in.
Yup, MIT was my utimate dream school, i tried, failed, and might try again ;)

Hehe I like your last sentence :p Exactly my situation.

mercurysquad...I know you are taking the entrance test for the IIT exam, or have taken it already and have passed. If you get in, why wont you be satisfied with that. IIT is even better than MIT, or its like the MIT of INdia. Sometimes I wish I lived in India and was a part of that group. They are truly the cream of the crop and if you do get in, I wouldnt complain about not being accepted at MIT. Sometimes things work out for the best. You cant get everything in life.

Yeah that's certainly true that one can't get everything in life, but sometimes one has to go out of his way to try to get it, if one wants it real bad.

I won't be happy at IIT for more than a trivial reason. Please don't push me into argueing about it here cuz I've had enough of that in the past 5 years or so, with countless people. It's about the fundamental philosophy.

Also, honestly, I do not have the temperament that IIT demands. I know MIT is just as rigorous, but when you love something, it seems easier than when you don't.

Call it a whim, if it's easier to understand that way. ;)

hugs merc

Best of luck. I'm rooting for ya all the way.

hey merc,

just went thru the entire post...

dude just keep trying... with this kind of determination ur gonna be successful anyways...

engineering nerds :)

who is ThomYorke?

the frontman of radiohead?
this is teh intarweb, neighbor. no one here is exactly as they appear. and that's probably a good thing.
his comment is a trifle random, however.
