Rejected As Freshman, Transfer gets discounted?

Just wondering if I apply to a school which previously rejected me, will it keep my previous application materials?

I will transfer in as a junior, hopefully.

Thanks for any opinion!!

Usually the school does keep your previous application materials, but they will still ask you to resend high school transcript, etc.

You have to resubmit everything.

Wrong. Most schools keep everything for 2 years. All of the schools my daughter was rejected at and is now applying as a transfer still has her stuff. Check with the school.

it depends on the schools...BC for sure tossed everything from freshman apps.

Yes Sunshadow, I think your schools may have been the exception. I researched a lot of colleges and they all had the instruction to resubmit. You're right though, it depends on the school.

BC is one of the ones she is applying to and they have all her stuff.

It really depends on the school, so you have to ask each one. Of the 4 reapplications for my D, one had her materials from last year (I don't know if they would have kept them 2 years), two wanted everything again and one would only have kept her materials if she had told them to hold them when she got her original decision.

Thanks for the info!! I am curious about another thing: if we apply to schools which previously rejected us, what will they think? Will they think that we don't give up our hope and work for it constantly? Or they will labeled us with the tag "previously denied applicants" ?

I think it shows that you really want to go to the school.

Sunshadow - I didnt know that...I was under the impression that BC got rid of all old admission stuff. They even say under the transfer section of the website something to the effect of "all transfer applicants must submit all new credentials."

IMO, they won't "think" anything. They will look at your transfer application in light of the pool of applicants and their institutional needs. There are so many reasons students want to transfer, and so many reasons why they may or may not have applied to a school as a freshman. So I don't think admissions officers spend a lot of time trying to interpret the motivation of the applicant beyond what is stated in the application. Again, JMO FWIW.
