Rejected from NYU, chance for transfer?

Unforunately, I've only been accepted to my safety, University of Maryland College Park this year...therefore, I decide to transfer to other schools after the first year or the first two years.
What are my chances for transferring to NYU CAS? I was rejected from CAS this year.....

Here are my stats
ACT:30 (going to take a prep class in the summer and hopefully I will get a 32+)
GPA:Weighted:4.12 Unweighted:3.9
10 AP classes.
Will take a total of 10 AP tests after graduation

Awards:
AP Scholar with distinction
Student of the month
Art department award

EC:
Student Page to the maryland general assembly
Founder and president of Nonviolence Club
Environmental Club
Envirothon
National Honor Society

Hook:
I'm an immigrant and I immigrated here four years ago, and I started to learn english from scratch. I've already become a U.S citizen by the way.
Fluency in my native language, Chinese.

pharmakeus01, I noticed you lack two SAT Subject Tests, which is required by NYU. I am not sure but I suggest that your rejection may have to do with having no SAT Subject tests.

Hope you have a great experience at the University of Maryland College Park.

yeah, I read your stats and to me it sounded like you have a pretty good chance so I was surprised they rejected you, but if you don’t have any sat subject tests then you’re screwed. So take two tests in subjects you’re comfortable in. Do well next year at U.Maryland and you might be able to transfer in after a year, so good luck.

um… I do have SAT subject tests.. I got a 700 in Math II, 690 in U.S history, and a 740 in world history, and I sent to them a long time ago with my ACT score, sorry, I forgot to mention..

There is another thread regarding transfers to CAS, and some transfer applicants reported that since there were so many internal transfers to CAS, there were more rejections of outside applicants, because of limited space. Also, NYU has offered some CAS transfer applicants the option of studying abroad for the first transfer semester, since, again, there has been limited space at the nyc campus.

CAS seems to be a very popular school among transfer applicants.

pharmakeus01, I see no weaknesses in your academic performance (although your ACT score seems to be a bit average to me). Since NYU has many wonderful applicants with excellent academic performance, the only criteria remaining would be your essay and personal statements. Unfortunately it is difficult to tell what admission officers want in their applicants specifically. The only advice I can tell you is to keep it personal and do not try to impress the admission officers. Make sure it represents the true you.

Good luck on transferring next year!

To me you sound flawless on your academics side… i’m actually really surprised that they rejected you. But I agree with the person above, maybe you could represent yourself more through your essays and activities. Although your EC’s aren’t bad, if I had to pick out a weakness that got you a denial (though with difficulty) you can participate in activities that represent yourself and your passion. Good luck on your transfer!!
