Rejected from Rice. Considering Univerity of Houston or UNT

I was recently rejected from Rice :'(. Now I'm considering UNT or University of Houston. I'm planning to apply as a transfer to Rice University next year, and want to do internships with NASA. University of Houston would allow me to do that. Which do you think would better my chances to be accepted to Rice as a transfer for Fall 2011? Thanks!

It also depends on how well you do at University of Houston or UNT. The problem with University of Houston is that there isn’t much of a professor-student interaction nor is there a very studious enviornment.

If your goal is NASA then U of Houston is the way to go. Figure out which school will be a better fit for YOUR goals.

I’m sorry that you weren’t accepted. :frowning: I strongly suggest that you choose a university that you can see yourself attending for 4 years; go in with the attitude that you are going to seize opportunities and make connections at that university and stay all 4 years. If you really don’t like it, then apply to transfer, but not before you’ve really invested yourself in that university and all that it has to offer. Don’t go in thinking that you are going to transfer… :)

I agree with anxiousmom. You never know if you will be accepted as a transfer student. Chose the best 4 year university for yourself.

I’m kind of afraid of choosing Houston, because I don’t know anyone going there, and I don’t know much about the school. From what I’ve read so far, it’s an okay research university, and research is my main goal. At UNT or UT, I wouldn’t be able to research what I want to. I don’t know if I would be happy at any of those schools for four years, but probably have a better chance of getting a job with NASA if I’m at Houston and do internships in college with them. So I will probably go for Houston.

If UT Austin is a choice I would encourage that over U of Houston. Many roads can lead to NASA, but I think you’ll have a better experience at UT than at UH
