Rejected from Summer Program...now what

Hey,

I was recently informed that I was denied acceptance to a several week long summer program at a top 20 university. To be short it was a pretty prestigious medical program in which one could research cancer and get research published. I really wanted to go and I guess I’m sounding salty rn so I’ll just get to the point: is there anything productive or worthwhile I could be doing this summer that doesn’t require an application or some prior qualification? I qualified for FBLA nationals this year, and I guess that’s okay, but it’s only worthwhile if you actually place, and it’s not nearly as good as the research program. Plus, it’s only for a few days and then I’ll be left with the whole summer doing nothing…

Tryna be optimistic fam I need some advice thanks

You won’t be “left with the whole summer doing nothing.”
You have two months in front of you where you’ll have free time to explore new hobbies, volunteer, get a job, and do many other worthwhile things with your time.
I’m sorry you didn’t make it in, but try to look at the many positives.
