cookies what was the date on ur status?

and the date on the letter itself?

hahah leave poor cookie alone with your questions

Updated from "we have received your midyears" to "reviewed by admission committee" on the 27th and changed to "we have acted on" 3/29 (today).
Not feeling the pain, although USC did lead me on for almost 4 months.

I hope you feel better cookiesgarden. hugs Don't let it get to you, UC Irvine is still a great school!

Guess it's off to UCLA or Cal now :D

cookies atleast you have irvine; i only have sb and riverside. how pathetic am i? i work hard for 4 years and all i get is two schools that i wouldve gotten in even if i hadnt challenged myself...

Glass_eyes,

Your comment about being "led on" is something I have heard from many students this application season. I almost think it would be better for the colleges to be honest, up front and just reject. It would be easier to move on to another terrific school.

I was rejected by my top choice school and later transferred to USC. Honestly, if I had to do all over again, I would have chosen a different school. Cal or UCLA are your choices? That's great! Good luck to you!

Littlegreenmom:

Yea, I wish USC could have just outright rejected me. It's better than having to run to the mailbox everyday and checking my status page a billion times.

Thanks for the encouragement :) greatly appreciated.

Glass_eyes,

One of my students sent in an early action application in October to LMU, got deferred at the end of December, and has been waiting ever since. If it was a yes, there isn't a lot of time to visit the school. Emotionally, he moved on a long time ago, and has several other excellent offers from colleges that were more selective.

It is a crapshoot. Too many students don't have enough favorite schools and get locked into only one or two schools, and then the whole world crumbles under them if there is a rejection.

I do feel sorry for the mail carriers this time of year! They often know what the news is, depending upon the size of the letter, before the students.

when i heard the mail man coming, i practically ran out to the mail box. it wasnt hard to see that i was rejected. sure the letter was at the bottom of the rest of the mail. but there was no big evelope. i had riped open the usc envelope and say that i was rejected. i practically stood there for 30sec. when i finally looked up, i saw the mailman looking at me from across the street.

^^awww lol the mailman.. LOL

trip7s- i feel the same way. i havent gotten rejected yet, but my status says acted upon, so probably will. we were worked so hard for nothing!!! it sucks... a lot

Cookie, I think you should keep coming back for awhile. The only other people who will understand how you feel are right here. It might make you feel less alone to share your disappointment with others.

Give yourself a few days to grieve about USC, and then start spending time on Irvine's website and try to find things to get excited about. Is there a Facebook group for Irvine 2012? Maybe you could figure out which clubs you want to join. Study the dorms and decide which one you want.

Maybe you could do great at Irvine then try to transfer to USC next year?

1) thankfully my mailbox is in my door so the mailman won't see when i'm crying

2) every rejection gets easier (USC will be my 7th most likely) but USC will be different. its my first choice - lets just call it first choice v3. first choice v1 and v2 already rejected me and that was pretty horrible but the worst part about being rejected from first choice version3 is knowing that there are no other first choices left!

even though everyone's been telling me i should be happy about where i've gotten in and are seriously considering (got into 6 so far, only considering 3) I still can't believe that its all going to be over. monday at around 3:00PM, when that small letter from USC comes through my door.

glass eyes and the cookies really scare me... i'm in the acted upon status too

i dont think it matters whether ur acted upon or not...i'm still in review from 3/26, but i could bet that's a rejection..if they haven't made up their mind already that means they don't want me..i thought i would cry if i didn't get into usc, but honestly now, i don't think it'll phase me all that badly.
