Rejecting an Offer

I received an offer from a liberal arts college and was completely fine with going there until about a week ago.

The thing is, I was offered a place at an UK university to do law recently, and overall, it'd be the best course for me to opt for the UK uni.

Since I accepted the offer from the US college (and paid about US$300) confirming my place before May 1st, will they allow me to go back on the offer and pull out at this stage? If yes, which stage will be too late?

The $300 is not a problem, I just need to be able to leave the college.

Thanks :)

No, they’re going to issue a warrant for your arrest, have you handcuffed and fingerprinted, and put you on the no-fly list.

Seriously: happens all the time, when U.S. students are picked up off waitlists. They might even give you some of the deposit back, depending on the institution.

LOL :slight_smile: , so, if my Uni is dated to begin the the end of August, as long as I pull out before then, I’ll be fine?

That’s correct.

Call the admissions office to tell them of your change of plans. The assisitant answering the phone can explain if you need to write them a letter or send an email for verification and their records. Tons of people change their plans after depositing.

Thanks so much for your replies!

@fauve: I’ll do that :D
