rejection question

now that we are seeing some rejections and not in waves. i assume that the theory of rejection in wave at the end of the month is not true anymore? how were rejections sent last year. i got into UCSB. i think they are about the same in terms of ranking, do you guys think i will get in. i have 1780 sat about 3.7 UC GPA and i have done many hours of community service

id say ur in. my buddy got in w/ 1620 sat and 3.93 gpa.
and yes, rejectoins definitly are coming randomly now, not in a single wave, according to the admissions representative i talked to yesterday. I think ucs, especitally this year, care about GPA more than sats.

the UC GPA is the GPA from sophomore and junior and weighted right? so i am guessing my higher SAT scores will compensate for my lower GPA comparing to your friend rightr?

yup. correct. lol dude ur better off than me. my uc gpa is 3.54, w/ 2030 sat. i hope ur correct when u say SAT compensates for gpa haha.

You're .2 points lower than I am in GPA, and about the same SAT's.

I don't know what your other stats are, and those could change the outcome by a large margin, but I'd say that you're in on a pretty safe bet from what you've told me.

then why the hell don't they accept me already lol. i am getting pretty impatient now. the last day is the 31st right?

thanks for the comforting words lol. and good job on the acceptance!

To tell you the truth, some people end up waiting longer. I hear that they're backlogged this year, so that could be a very real possibility for a good amount of people. Can't say this with certianty though, just speculation.

deepfriedeggroll, UCI's comprehensive reveiw is unpublished, but if it's similar enough to UCSD and UCDs' your SAT's and GPA factor to about the same point that we're at.

It's all good. You guys will survive.

hey merc can do u mind telling me if u got into ucd/ucsd/ucsb?

Didn't apply to SB, but I got rejected from UCD and UCSD. To tell you the truth, UCI was the only place I really wanted to go. Being rejected from those places was such a blow to my confidence about being accepted to UCI.
It was pretty dark for a few days, but after this acceptance came in, everything turned around.

But yeah, don't let a rejection from UCD or UCSD blow your confidence. It is indeed possible as many others including myself have proven to be rejected from those places and accepted into UCI.

thanks bro

Not a problem. ;)

a friend of mine just got rejected

stats: 1960 SAT
uc gpa: 3.3
SATII: both are in 550-600 range
eagle scout.

^ aww my stats are similar to that but slightly lower.
sadklfjklsdjflksdafs i'm scared nowwww!

"a friend of mine just got rejected

Wow dang that's harsh.
I have about the SAT I score.
SAT IIs: 690 and 760
Weighted GPA around 3.9 (UC GPA guessing 3.7)
1000+ hours volunteering (including 200 @ UCI Medical Center)
President of almost every Math and Science Club in school.

Problem: Applied as a Biology major sigh hope that doesn't screw up my chances somehow.

cross fingers for acceptance
