Rejection sign?

But your financial documents were RECEIVED right?

Were any of you contacted by a financial aid advisor from Columbia?

^Yes, but only because one of my documents was missing (had some issues…)

Was that recently?

My FAFSA was “received” for “packaging” on march 19th…is there any difference between packaging and disbursement??? Everything for me is listed as packaging except for the student W2 forms :stuck_out_tongue: I hate this. I dont want to get worked up over it, but it’s still making me nervous

Er… my FAFSA and CSS are listed as “received” for “packaging” as of 2/17/10. I’m fairly sure that they didn’t have decisions by then. Unless of course “received” for “disbursement” means something different, in which case… Well, we’ll see in a few days anyway. Besides, my parents had some issues so the W-2’s and tax returns couldn’t be sent anyway, so even if I was accepted, it’s possible that they wouldn’t have downloaded my other forms anyway? Whatever. I guess the obsessive speculation is pointless.

Can someone who got a likely confirm this for us??? Please!

Sorry, mine was listed for packaging too, not disbursement
@BeautifulNerd: I was contacted in mid-march by financial aid

Me too. I took it as a good sign. But I don’t know.

Regarding financial aid forms, I recently sent an e-mail to ask about forms that still appeared to be missing on the website. I was simply told that they had been received, despite the fact that the website appears to say differently… So if your financial aid info still appears to have things missing, it should not be an issue that causes you to freak out, but simply one that requires a “follow up”.

It seems a bit of a waste how colleges spend so much time and effort calculating financial aid for all applicants–accepteed and rejected. Stuff like this makes me wonder whether they really do that or just say they do…

^^^ Agreed. It’s just another way to play with our emotions.

:S
Mine says my CSS was recieved
but the parent tax returns were not received but I submitted them by fax and email on March 1st.

I have read many cases that people got contacted by FA office late in the game, December for ED and March for RD, got accepted at the end. A few examples in the UChicago tread. There are people applied to MIT said they were rejected though. Guess what, the director of FA in Columbia came from MIT. This is his first year here. My guess is he is the one who wrote the e-mail, he liked to blog. You can interpret it any way you like. Thursday is here soon.

I got my email from a female.
