Rejection

I have asked this question many times, I was deferred from Wash U, does that mean anything! Does Wash U reject EDI and do I have even a hope of getting accepted come april? Please I really could use some answers, Wash U is very much so my first choice and it has been with me since I was born.

JB12790, even though my daughter got in last week (and I only mention that because perhaps you know this from the postings) we had a real concern that it wouldn't happen, and it was going to break her heart because her brother is already there and she had her heart set on it. The week before the decision, I started going deeply into the web sites of other wonderful universities she had applied to and at which she had a good chance of admittance (she would not do this herself because she was too nervous to do so). We were already familiar with those other universities and had visited them, but going a lot into their web sites not only distracted me (as I said, she herself would not do it) but enabled me to remind her of how great and exciting these places were and how each school had its own advantages over the others, honestly! By the time she did get in, the news was wonderful, I won't deny that, but she was prepared to get very excited about the other places too and even realized that she had to say good-bye to some of the advantages of the other places.
Wash U. would be lucky to have a loyal and engaged student like you in its student body, and if it remains your first choice, do let them know that (without going too crazy :) ). But at the same time, along with continuing to do your best, do start using some of that energy and enthusiasm to delve into the web sites and literature of the other universities that interest you, including the ones you have determined to be good shots for getting in, and you will start feeling excitement about the other options too. There are so many incredible places out there. A student with your enthusiasm is bound to have a great experience at many places.
I know this is not what you asked for in the post, and Wash U. may still be your place, but the other stuff really helps too.

Mom555, I have already been accepted to several good universities however both my parents attended Washington University so it is hard to realize that I may not end up there. I have already shown a great amount of continued interest since I received news of my deferral, I am interested in finding out if my deferral holds any weight or if my interest will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes.

JB, it seems as though you're looking for answers that cannot be answered by any stats or anyone outside that Wash U admissions office. It's great that you show so much interest in the school and want to follow in the steps of your parents, but perhaps your path was meant to be unique. Do all you can to convince those adcoms but just wait for answers in April (worrying now will result in much lost sleep!)

Deferrals are indeed very wretched... I was deferred from Cornell ED... sometimes I think a rejection is better; there's more closure and you can start moving on with your life. Whatever be the case, I think your conscienciousness will definitely result in success wherever you g.
