Kayla, I'm sure no one objects to your posting rejections when you feel like doing so. It's a good way to take care of yourself-to wait until you are ready.
It's great that you can reach out the way you do.
I'll bet that wait for the next one is still so hard isn't it? Maybe it's nice to know you'll have lots of very talented company!

Truthfully, I wouldn't blame you all if you waited to post your rejections until after an acceptance or two. I don't really think that adcoms need to know that other programs have said "no" to you. You never know if some of them are up on the going ons here on CC, and although they are considering you, another schools rejecting of you may possibly sway them another direction? I just think it may be a great time to play your cards close to your chest as far as rejections, but definitely share when it's all said and done. On the other foot, I think it is in your favor to post any and all acceptances early and often, in order to show any schools on board here that you are a hot commodity! (REALLY hoping all of our CC kids here get some! [FX])
Maybe I'm just being a little paranoid but it may be something to think about.

,,X(^_^)X,, Fingers crossed! ( I know too much time on my hands, snow day after February vacation!)

Kayla,
Last year CMU took like six girls. A rejection from them is not indiction that you will not get into another program! There are many spots still available and many schools have yet to announce their selections. Keep the faith, because any program would be lucky to have a young woman with your drive, determination and focus. I'm sure that you will go far, no matter where you end up in school and beyond.
Les Mis, tashmu and Kayla, thank you for your support. In the past, whenever I've been down or discouraged, my mom would listen and be there and then she'd say "Well, chicken, you'd better get to work!" She often coped with sadness, disappointment or waiting by tackleing the spring cleaning or making a dress for one of us. I'm listening to her advise since I have about ten loads of laundry to do! This waiting is the pits, but it goes by more quickly when I'm busy, especially doing something active.
Hugs to all!

I think Kayla posted about CCM and not CMU.

You are right, but the same applies. Rejections from CCM, CMU, & UMich will be plentiful and not necessarily an indication of one's talent or lack there of.

Sarahsmom -- My mother has been gone for many years, but I like to think that wherever she is she had a pot of tea on and pulled up a chair for your mom so they could keep an eye on these grandkids while the knitting needles click away. I know my mom is with me through all of this, from picking out the audition outfit to anxiously checking the mail... cc is that circle of support so while I don't have time to knit rught now, I think I will go make a cup of tea!
Harriet

Harriet,

Many hugs.

K

Keep your head up everyone, no matter what, everything will be okay :-) and I am confident that everyone here is incredibly talented and despite any decisions that will be made; we will surpass any doubts and apprehensions and tackle this beast (musical theatre) and succeed.

Sorry to hear about that Kaylagurl, I pray you get into a good school.

Thanks so much you guys :-)....thanks sarahsmom , broadwaybelter and tashmu :-)

I too feel that this is such a stressful and worrisome time. All my d's friends are hearing about college acceptances and many of them are getting into unexpected high hope schools and here's all of us waiting to hear about selective, competitive, MT schools and still feeling part of the great unknown. In the next few weeks the long wait will be over. Here's wishing good luck to all of you and another wish that the a school that we are waiting for will be our destiny.

I wanted nothing more in life than to go to NYU. So I applied ED...and, you guessed it, didn't get in. Well, being a typical theatre mom, my mom called NYU and asked about their decision. They said that I got in academically but that the artistic review was my downpoint (I auditioned for Tisch). After being depressed for a couple of weeks, I got back on my feet and applied to nine schools. So far, I've been rejected by (out of those nine) SUNY Purchase and accepted by none. So, Kayla (don't I know you? =P) I'm in the same boat as you as well. I thought SUNY Purchase was one of my better auditions. Now that I didn't get in there, I've been worrying and thinking, "Holy cow! If I didn't get in to my 8th choice school, how in the world will I get into my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice school...or ANY, for that matter?!" I guess we just have to be able to sit back and let things roll...just let things happen the way they're supposed to happen. It's hard, but (for sanity-based reasons), we must try!

third rejection for me comes from otterbein. i honestly wasn't expecting to get in there because they take such a small number, but i got a really good scholarship from the school and was hoping to be able to take advantage of it.

it's going to be SO HARD to wait for april 1 to hear from hartford -- thats the last one i haven't heard from.

Oh, Sporti.. I'm praying for you. Do something for yourself, like get a manicure or take a walk with a friend. You never know what April will bring, and as they say, there are many paths to a career in MT!
Welcome Lovely, keep your chin up. My D has still not heard from 8 schools. This is going to go down as a very long month or two.

Sporti: I'm feeling heartbroken for you and with you today. I know the long path you have walked so far in your MT quest. Wishing that somehow all your CC fans could send mental images of your future success to the decision makers at Hartford.

Lovelyspotlight How do you know you didn't get into Purchase? I thought they told us at the audition that you would only be notified if you got in and that that would be by phone. I assumed my d didn't get in because she didn't get a callback nor did they ask her any questions. Someone mentioned though that they knew someone who got in last year and did not get a callback.

I am just getting back to the CC thread after many weeks of auditioning. Sarahsmom may I add my condolences? My dad died February 6. We made the difficult decision of having my wife and son go to the Fredonia audition (7 hour car ride) while I went to the funeral. Tough choices.

Here is the update for my son:
Elon, Shenandoah, Hartt, UArts, Penn State (twice): rejected
Otterbein: holding pattern
Pace, SUNY Buffalo and Fredonia: waiting to hear
Point Park: despite a nasty cold he was asked to stay for the audition class but then told he could go home to rest. This was his 10th audition and the first where he got positive news.
We may add an audition in March. Temple for theatre (non audition) is the back-up plan. We are hopeful for Point park and Otterbein. Also hopeful for Fredonia. He wa pretty sick for Buffalo, the day before Point Park

Wow, you already heard from Otterbein College? I guess I can be expecting another one of those letters soon...hehe

When did y'all who have heard from Otterbein audition?

Otterbein sent out letters saying whether or not you are still being considered for all or some of the following majors: BFA MT, BFA Acting, BA Theater or BA in Music...also the dance minor. My daughter received her letter on Monday and so did a few others that we know. I would think if you haven't received yours yet, you would get the letter by today. If not maybe you could call and check. The letter then says that the final decisions will be mailed after they meet in mid-March. Best of luck to you!!! :)
