My D also received her letter on Monday. Debbie Byrne at Otterbein said that they would be sending these notices out as a courtesy, to let people know whether they are still in the running, as sort of a nice deferral. They also wanted to know if the student was still interested in consideration.
A friend unfortunately received a rejection letter, also on Monday. Both he and my D auditioned at the NYC Unifieds on 2/4. Good luck, everyone!

Yea..i also heard from Otterbein about the holding thing..so thats nice to know...but im still desperately waiting for Michigan...

Shellipearl, all I know about Purchase is that I got a letter telling me that I was not accepted. And when I auditioned, they didn't say anything about callbacks of any sort, before or after. I don't know. Perhaps I did something wrong?

Anyway, I got a letter.

oh yay kaysmom..(i also just got your e-mail)..im happy for Kailie, and im SO excited about Otterbein...i acutlaly just told my mom about it...and she was thrilled :-) :-)...im pleased as plum..lol...

this waiting is horrible though....:-(..lol

I'm also being held for consideration at Otterbein! :)

D also considered for Otterbein!! THRILLED!!I am curious as to how many hold letters they(Otterbein)send out....just wondering about her chances

My daughter auditioned on 2/11 for Otterbein but hasn't heard anything from them (other than her academic accceptance before her audition). I know some have heard from CCM and Ithaca as well and she hasn't heard anything from them either. She has gone from "I don't care if you open my mail", to "Don't open any mail until you call me first", to "Where is the mailbox key?", to "Don't even look through the mail to see what's there until you're with me"! Congrats to all with acceptances in hand and hugs to those with rejections or who are still waiting! My daughter has her last audition at OU tomorrow.

Yea, I auditioned on 2/10 and have yet to receive anything from otterbein. Perhaps today or later this week?

Alismom, thanks for making me laugh out loud..my daughters feelings about the mail have been exactly the same..these poor stressed out kids!...D has 1 more audition in 3 weeks..good luck to your D tomorrow

I was at this point last year, and the waiting is by far the worst part. I have been reading and "lurking" with all of you, wishing you the best. My d is finishing her freshman year....and I am STILL running to the mail box! (Looking for summer stock acceptances for older d and younger d is looking for summer music camp acceptances!) So, unfortunately, a year later, the arrival of the mail is still one of the most anticipated events of the day!! :)
The next few weeks are such a stressful time, but things do work out. This is such a wonderful thread. There were times that we felt my d was one of a very few getting "rejections". (such a horrible word for us!!) I am sure it is hard to post, but I think you are helping to ease the pain for so many. You are all wonderful!
My thoughts are with you!

Notfromme, you are so right that it doesn't end with college admissions! There are constant waits and rejections/acceptances for those who audition for things (which all theater people will be doing for years to come) and other things like internships and jobs. So, it is always something of this sort. It keeps going!

PSU and FSU rejections came yesterday. PSU was no surprise, but they sent a big envelope. She had been accepted to the school, just not MT. It was kind of a big let down.
FSU was so hard to get. She really, really loved FSU and it's hard not to know WHY she was rejected. She felt really good about her audition and was very hopeful, but this is why she auditioned at 10 schools. Her HS theatre director thought we were kind of nutty auditioning at so many schools. He kept telling me that D would get in and not to worry. Well...so far, 9 auditions, 3 rejections, 0 acceptances. I guess it wasn't so nutty.
We're staying hopeful. Who know, maybe by the end of the month we'll be singing a happy tune.
Good luck to all.

sarahsmom -- the same thing happened to me with PSU, big envelope, disappointing letter!!

Maybe her height is an issue. We were told my many that tall is good, but I'm really starting to wonder. Some of the schools seemed to have several tall girls, but many had none.

Sarahsmom42, hang in there. Your D still has a lot of schools to hear from. Isn't there an old saying that goes something like "Good news takes its time coming, but bad news can hardly wait?" (I may have messed this up, but that is the idea. :)) My bet is that your daughter will get a couple of acceptances at once. Please keep us posted and let her know that everyone here is rooting for her.

Sarahsmom42 -
Many many are in the same boat. Everyone & everyone told my D that she would be accepted to ALL - we never dreamed that we would still be waiting to hear. By the way my D is not "tall" rather petite so that theory is not quite right. It all boils down the the right "fit" or so that's what we keep hearing (don't know how they know so soon). Lets' keep supporting eachother with warm positive thoughts. :-) (Still haven't figured out how to post those happy faces, but hopefully will learn how to print in the RED'S soon!
;-). BEST TO ALL Parents and students!

Mainstage,

When you hit the post a reply button and it opens the message box, scroll all the way to the bottom of that page and on the left hand side there is a word "smiles". If you click on that it opens a window that tells you how to do faces.

:) :( :D :mad::p :confused::o ;):rolleyes: :eek: :cool:

I've always wondered if schools just thought I was too tall.....

How tall are you?

Sporti,
I'm sorry that you had to go through that emotional up and down too.
The reason I mention the height is that I've seen posts by a couple of coaches/profs. making comments about tall girls not being as "castable." It's always been an asset to our D because she's really striking on stage, but who knows? Models have to be 5'9 or taller and runway models are often 6'0. Film actresses are often tall, think of Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Halle Barry, Brooke Shields and many others. My D has always been very glad to be tall and is very light on her feet, but it's still something I've always wondered about. I would guess that 5'6 would be perfect.
It's been a rough couple of weeks for me, and the next two will be long, but I'm keeping the faith and hope all of you do to.
