Rejections: Class of 2007

Since I read on the CMU forum that they have already contacted the people who were accepted for MT I guess I can scrath that one off the list (lol).

i heard good news from Emerson (BFA Acting) ... I think the BFAs heard (at least another guy in my school heard, but it might be...and probly is...in waves) for at least acting... but they accept alot of BAs...so i think those are still to come out.

I havent heard Amazing things about Emerson tho...i mean its beautiful and state of the art but i still havent heard good things...anyone have any ideas? im sorry if this is the wrong thread to do this...

Ok So NYU officially needs to let me know...i thought that was my best audition and Emerson my worst so how ironic is life...

This is like the most stressful thing EVER in LIFE! and we havent even begun!!!!

Robbie, we love you and congratulate you but this is the rejections thread....

Yale for me...Darn! I thought I had a really good interview! Oh well, it was "theatre studies" instead of "acting/theatre" anyway

how did you find out from Emerson? Was it on the website or in the mail??

Thanks for all the responses, I'm just stressing out so much. I'm sure everyone can relate.

Yes we all can! I would put a smiley here but I have no idea how do to it.

i can't believe i'm still waiting on SUNY Fredonia.

it's getting ridiculous...

yes robbie this is the thread where we complain and wallow in self-loathing, while commiserating with others in the same position. (hah)

i still have to hear from 6 schools. basically four of my other 6 were nos...so im hoping things turn out better for the next half.

goodbye Michigan :(

My daughter is on spring break in Hawaii with a friend and I'm on mailbox duty. I went out to find it full of 4 large white envelopes. One from Am Ex, one from financial co. and FA packet from safety she's already gotten accepted to. And details of BFA she's already gotten into. Then came online rejection from UCLA MT. Cornell was a "no" also. But she has a BFA Theatre acceptance she is happy with, and 3 more schools to hear from. For a moment there I thought she was getting 4 more acceptances, it seemed like too much. But none of them were new acceptances. Just two online rejections today. One or two more acceptances would be be great, but we are feeling grateful. What a difficult process!

I wish this thread were on this site last year!!
Followyourdreams...how ironic is it that you posted a Yale acceptance with a "darn" after it? I have always said that this major is harder to get accepted into than an ivy league, and you have just supported my claim!! :) I will still 'congrats' you on getting into such a selective school, but I do understand the "darn". I am pulling for all of you.

Three more schools to hear from for our s. He's sweating one -- absolutely certain he didn't get into Webster -- although yesterday they phoned to ask that he pay his audition fee, five weeks later....He has some great choices, but the Michigan blast at the beginning took some steam from his sails. i can tell.

notfromme:
Lol! No, no! I've been REJECTED from Yale!!! hahahaha! Lol, I just assumed when I said "Yale for me" (since this is the rejection thread -not the acceptance thread) that people would know it meant "I've been rejected from Yale!" (I meant Yale has a theatre studies instead of a B.F.A. acting prog)

Oh Follow....my mistake!! I should have realized that on a rejections site!! So very sorry....but you do have acceptances! No matter what, I think you are all great. I will still say it is as hard to get into a mt program as it is to get into some ivies!! :)

Harder!!! When you see that most BFA programs only take a freshman class of about 20-30, and they all have several hundred AT LEAST auditioning
(400? 500?) you realize its probably about a 5% acceptence rate at best. That is worse odds than ANY of the ivies, even Yale! As the rejections keep rolling in for my D (4 out of 6 so far. . .), I keep reminding her of that - fully 95% of the amazing, wonderful talented kids who apply to these programs are going to hear no at some point. Its not a reflection of their talent or ability, its just that the odds are seriously against them from the start. In my D's case she also applied to 6 BA programs, as she's not even positive the BFA is the best choice for her, and has been accepted into two good ones already with 4 more still to hear from. So we know she will wind up somewhere good that is right for her even if its not one of the exclusive BFA programs she auditioned for. There are many paths to climb the same mountain.

Does anyone know if UCLA follows up its online notification (from the university dean) that you are rejected with a letter from the theatre department where you auditioned?

After all the blood, sweat, and tears, I hope the department will spring for a 39 cent stamp?

I completely agree on the "harder"!! Just did not want to step on any toes!

No question "harder" and I know my nephew at Harvard would agree. The little frog got a full ride to play Football!!! (he's not so little)

A coworker agrees that this process is much harder and her son went to Harvard!
