Rejections

I know this may sound naive, but does everyone get the same rejection letter? My letter said something about the possibility of transfering after 1-2 years... Does that mean anything or nothing? I've been rejected from a number of other small schools but only one has said anything along those lines.

Any input would be really appreciated.

Hm, interesting.

I threw my letter away right after reading the first couple of sentences or so. Anybody can transfer colleges given the right amount of will, effort, and time. Were you offered some sort of guaranteed transfer option?

I've gotten rejection letters from other schools that suggest that if I still have interest in the school, the doors are opened for reapplying. Perhaps the other schools just didn't include that message?

My child got the same letter from Oberlin -- I think it is their standard denial letter. (It was the only of 7 schools that he did not get into. Fortunately, he took it quite well and is now busy trying to decide which of 6 schools to attend.)--I think they say that so that kids who had their heart set on that one school don't feel the door slamming. And they have a point--while in reality you will likely move on and embrace one of your other choices and be very happy and successful and barely look back, if you truly still feel that Oberlin is where you want to be, you can apply as a transfer another year.
