Is there any relationship between undergraduate admissions and graduate admissions? For instance, let's say someone gets accepted to school A and school B for undergrad. He gets in at both but goes to school A. Years later he applies to school B for graduate school. Will the fact that he turned school b down before affect the grad decision?

No, not at all. Grad admissions is a totally different animal than undergrad. In fact, only your department decides on admissions for their program. For undergrad, it's all decided by a general admissions committee.

My D was not accepted as an undergrad to either Columbia or Duke.

She WAS accepted to both for graduate school. Still a great student, great recs, etc. Nothing's really changed, but this time, they said "yes".
(She turned them both down and is going somewhere else:) )

Thanks guys for the responses!
